Jan's mind was startling upon hearing the words Silent Rejection. Was Vanessa did that to him five years ago? He never attempted to court anybody although there were women who admired him.
"Ha ha ha ha, I don't believe you my friend," said Jan , "Most women love romantic men, they like those men they saw from romantic movies and read from the novels. If you are romantic and caring enough, and persevere you would still get that dream girl of yours."
"Yeah, of course that is why I never stop caring and loving to this woman that I have now Jan and she also did not stop of encouraging me to continue," said Mark he paused a bit and continued.
"Yes, most girls they like men from the romantic movies, but hey! Have you not noticed that these actors are all handsome, they already connected and admired the actors before seeing their movies and they don't even care if the movie is good or bad," said Mark.
Jan was like a student trying to learn something from his friend. He never thought that his friend had knowledge about courtship. This was not the first time that Jan and Mark argue on something. Jan was a bit conservative and a bookish guy, while Mark was a kind of observative and realistic type of person. They argued on different things but they always respect each at the end of their battle.
"So, what you are suggesting is that guys like me would always get rejected and guys like you would always the winner?"
"Yes, I know it sounds unfair, but yes," Mark paused then he continued.
"I don't know about your past relationships my friend, my campus was far from yours, but I am sure you were courting someone special before. Had you felt neglected by your crush or by that someone? When you texted her, did she reply to you? When you were showing care on her desperate moments, sending her flowers and chocolates was there a touching compliment from her? On her birthday did she mention your name? And on your birthday was there a moment that she accepted your invitation willingly?" Mark continued, "I experienced those things Jan, It was painful. I was silently rejected that is why there is no point of sacrificing your love to someone if she already expressing to you in action her answer."
Jan shoulders dropped, he focused his eyes to the ground his friend was right. Everything that Vanessa did to him started to pop-up in his memories. Mark paused and looked at his friend.
"Hey are you OK?"
"Yah," smiled Jan, so Mark continued.
"Today's women wanted to be loved by a guy that they like my friend, because maybe it could make them happy, loving without attraction--- is very rear now. As I said, you have to find your Maria Clara, she is long gone or maybe evolve to somebody else.
Women now have rights, have wants and have dreams bigger than the Men, the only way they lower their standards is when they get closer to 30.""Nah, that is nonsense Mark, If you show love, care and extra effort even the girl doesn't like you, you can still win her heart and that is my motivation, that is true love!"
Mark was just laughing listening to Jan Antonio's remark, but he admired the spirit of his friend.
"True Love? What a fuck..The issue here is not about showing effort and care my friend, because these men that most women get attracted to, they could also do that extra effort, love and care that you'd mentioned, hahahaha. The issue here is, if there are two guys both expressed their affection and care to a woman. Who will be rejected and accepted? Would it be the guy the woman is attracted to or the ugly dude who made extra effort and showing genuine love? "
Mark knew that Jan would not agree with him on that part, so he tried to look for something to prove to his friend.
Mark saw two women not so far away from them chasing a little girl who was evading the latter. Mark thought of it as a good example to show to his friend that charm is a perfect weapon to soften a woman 's snubbing instinct towards strangers no matter what they are. Mark wanted to show a simple realization of how women today can be easily deceived by using charm.
"Yo Jan come stand with me, "asked Mark, he pointed his finger to the two beautiful young women chasing a cute little girl, "see those beautiful teens over there Jan? I challenge you that you cannot get her number."
"Ha ha ha do not introduce me to your foolishness my friend, I do not want to be like you hahahaha and besides I am going to have a date later."
"Me too?" said Mark, "Hahahaha," Mark laughed.
"Of course this is just an experiment. I know that most women don't easily entertain strangers no matter how they look, but what if a handsome guy would do a little service do you think she would agree for a date? I think that charm plus a little effort could win woman's attention, not love yet, but if it works that simply mean would grant my request for a date right?" Mark added.
"You are an asshole Mark ahahahahah"
