You know about the myth of Atlantis, don't you? Everybody saw at least the cartoon movie or read Plato to learn what Atlantis was. This island got destroyed a long time ago, drowning into the water and never found. Nobody knows if Plato was lying about it or if he just invented it to sustain his political ideas, inspired to real events, but Atlantis exists somehow in our minds. What you may not know is that Atlantis is the name of a bar in California, in which we remained trapped two months ago. We solved the case, killed the mermaids in there and saved the day as always. So, right now you're asking me: What's wrong, then? and I will answer you. Atlantis, the bar, fell on its own walls, like a crumpled up sheet. It burned. Accidentally. Sam had a scratch on his left cheek and he broke his wrist, I got away with some stitches on my leg, but Dean... It's still hard to me to talk about that, even today. While the place was burning, one of the mermaids was still singing, like in Odysseus' story. I was trying to save my leg, the ceiling was falling on me and Dean jumped across the room to help me. He pressed his hands on my ears, so I couldn't hear her. But he did. I'm still wondering what she was saying to him, because his face went pale and he seemed uspet. Then, before Castiel could come to the rescue, a piece of the ceiling hit his head. Mermaids can attract the sailors to them, so they lose the direction and sink into the sea. Metaphorically, it's what is happening to Dean after that day. He's sinking. Gradually. Until no breath can remain inside of him anymore. She basically turned him into Atlantis. The myth. The problem is that I don't know what do do to save him.
You could say that I still have time, that I can search in books or talk to someone to figure a remedy out, but he's not making this easy to me. I think that he's gonna die in less than 48 hours. The only way to help him is to find Atlantis. Yeah, the real one, the myth. Under the sea.
<< Sam, are you ready? >> I ask him, after I packed our things.
Sam gulps.
<< He's not gonna come. He didn't accept it. He'd rather die, Y/N. >>
<< I don't care. >> I reply, wearing my coat.
<< He won't... >>
<< I don't care. >> I repeat. << I will carry him on my back, if I'd have to. >>
<< Carry who? >> someone asks, behind me. I turn to see Dean, that is drinking a beer (and it's only 10 PM).
<< Give me the keys. >> I say, reaching him out with a hand.
<< No way. You're not gonna drive my baby. >> he says. I roll my eyes, snorting. << Where are we going? >>
<< We have a lead to Atlantis. >> Sam answers.
Here it is. Obviously, Dean shakes his head, looking at him, then at me. He's angry, now. I got used to his changes of mood after two moths, but they're still annoying. The old Dean would have never reacted like he did most of the times. It was like he had the Mark of Cain again, for what I knew about it thanks to Sam.
<< Castiel's waiting for us outside. >>
<< You're not going through this because of me. >> he states, then he sits down. << This is dangerous. >>
<< We're not going to watch you become a monster or die, Dean. >> Sam speaks. << We stick to this plan and so do you. >>
<< Hell, no! I'd prefer to work with Crowley for an entire day - like I did once -, rather than see you three dead under the water. Plus, everyone knows that Atlantis is a legend. >>
