*Alisan's P.O.V:*
"So, tell me Alisan, how do you deal with my son?"
I was currently talking with Luciano's mother and Mia.
"It's mostly been me ignoring him and his presence all together. But the little shit helped me after and incident," I showed her my chin, palms, and knees, "Now he wont leave me alone. But I don't mind."
Mia and her mother laughed loud and hard at my statement. Luciano was across the way staring at us with an eye brow arched. I smiled back and winked.
"Alisan you are too funny." His mother told me. "It'll be great to have you here for him. He's going to need it."
"Excuse me?" I chuckled. "I don't think I understand what you mean."
"Well dear, with this lifestyle he's going to need as much laughter as you can give him as well as support and understanding. You do understand what this lifestyle is about don't you?"
"We haven't talked about it but I think I get some of it. I just don't want to ask him to explain it." I sheepishly told them.
"Well how about a Moretti women talk?" She offered. Mia nodded and squealed in excitement. I nodded as well and they both took me into the main house, down a hallway that seemed never ending, into a huge booked filled study.
"This is the woman's study. This is where us Moretti women come to talk about what our husbands either cant handle or wont handle." His mother said gesturing to a couch I can sit in.
Mia sat next to her mother in a plush chair. "Where do we start mom?"
"From the beginning." She looked at me slightly unsure. With a squeeze of my hand she begun. "Many many many moons ago in Italy we Moretti's were a well known family. Not only was our family one of the biggest we were the most dangerous. The men iPln the family have always been known to get what they need to, to support us. Yes, sometimes by committing crimes. But do you know why I am telling you all of this Ms. Cooper?" I shook my head in response. "To be a Moretti you have to understand what we do and who we are."
"Meaning you have to know the bad before the good." Mia said rubbing her belly. "Whatever is said in this room must stay in this room. Unless talking to Luciano."
"I understand. The safety of your whole family relies on silence and loyalty." I said smiling at them . "We Coopers live by the same code."
"Good, good, now, what is it that you think we do?" Teresa, Luciano's mother, asked me.
"Anything and everything to protect your family." I said sitting up straighter.
"That means killing people, torturing people, kidnapping people, selling guns, selling drugs, you name it. Our family does it." Mia said looking me dead in the eye. "Luciano, our father, Jeremy, the list goes on and on. Even my husband."
"So this means your job is not to make it harder Luciano, but make it easier. He may have to leave for business trips, never ask what business in particular unless you are positive you want to know. Because once you know you will never look at Luciano the same. You have to be willing to hear it all and see it all. Because as Moretti woman you must be your husbands back bone. We woman are their only weakness. Once a Moretti is in love they will always be. Even if you leave." Teresa said in a calm tone that almost scared me. Almost.
"There will be times where people may come after you for simply being his wife or girlfriend. Take our cousin Evangeline as an example. Sadly, she was kidnapped for a week by the Bianchi family. Why? Because they didn't like the way her husband spoke to him during a business meeting. And so her husband along with many other Moretti men and workers took to making sure she was returned home safe and sound. Killing anyone and everyone within the compound they had her in. So the Bianchi's are now at war wit us Moretti's. But the Bianchi's aren't the only one's you watch out for, there are the Rossi's, Cartelli's, the Romano's, and so on." Mia explained.
