Chapter 16
I walked down to breakfast still recovering from the shock of yesterday. Corey had confessed his feelings and things were a bit awkward at dinner. I figured I would just brush it off and go straight to sleep. So here I am eating breakfast in silence with the boys. Well all but Corey. He was no where to be found and frankly none of the boys seemed to care.
“So who’s ready for school?” Jace finally said breaking the silence.
We all mumbled yeses and all headed out to the cars. The ride was more quiet the usual and it went by really fast.
Where is Corey anyway? I wonder if this has something to do with last night?
“Mal don’t worry its not you,” Cameron said basically reading my mind.
“Okay I have to get to class,” I said turning away and walking to my french class.
I slid into my seat and let my thoughts consume me. It was not long before I felt a small tap on my shoulder.
“Whats eating you? Usually you come in and talk now you’re just quiet as can be,” A small blonde girl said. She was dressed in a black shirt with maroon pants and black doc martins.
“Nothing just thinking,” I replied glumly.
“Melanie by the way,” She said sticking her hand out.
I gladly took it and smiled. “So you like music?” I asked.
“Love it but I don’t listen to that cookie cutter pop shit if thats what your thinking,” She said causing me to laugh.
“Nah I didn’t think so,” I said motioning down to her outfit.
“So what other classes do you have?” She asked.
It had been a month since school started I’m pretty sure she should know what classes she has with me.
“Oh I’m new, I forgot to tell you,” She said clearing my thoughts.
“Oh! Makes sense! I was like shouldn’t you know what classes we have together?” I laughed.
“Yea my parents are environmental scientists or some shit like that so we had to move from ohio to here,” She explained. Finally someone who I could relate to.
“Well hey I’m newish to this is my first year I came from Michigan,” I replied.
“Well hey class is starting but you should come over to get away from whatever is eating you,” She said and I nodded.
“That would be great!” I said and she headed back to her seat.
The rest of my classes went by in a flash. Melanie was in my gym class and that was fun. Now it was time for lunch and I was glad. I’m starving! I found out a lot about melanie. Her parents are very laid back scientists and they just moved because they want to study the water for some new medicine. She lived just a few streets down from the Eliot’s and she liked alternative music. Not main stream still very good music.
“Hey you ready?” She asked pulling me out of my thoughts.
“yea lets go,” I said leading her to the table with the boys.
“Hey Mallory!” Charlie said.
“Hey guys this is my friend Melanie she’s new,” I said and sat down next to Jace.
