It was Christmas Eve, and Dinah and I were crashing at my empty house, after running around all day. We ran around town, stopping at the mall, small stores, and exploring everything that there was to offer. Dinah told me that because she had been on tour for so long, and we hadn't spent any time together, that I was going to spend Christmas with her, and that it was not arguable. At first I made a fuss about it, but deep down I was thrilled. Getting to spend any time with Dinah was something I cherished, and getting to spend the holidays with her was even better. There's something about Dinah that just enthralls me. I'm not sure if it's her pure beauty, or her incredible personality, or just her, in a complete being, but every time I'm around her, my heart beats a little faster and the laughter comes a little quicker. I think the things I'm feeling are greater the just a friendship, but I don't know. What if I say something about my crush and ruin our friendship? I'd rather have Dinah in my life as just a friend then not have her at all. After running around all day, we decided to crash at my house. My parents work, and I don't have any siblings, so the house is empty.
"Dinah, what you wanna do?" I said, tossing my coat and hat on the bench by the door. I turn to see Dinah doing the same, but struggling to get her arm out of the sleeve. I giggle, then ask "you want some help?"
"Huh? Help with what? I'm fine," she said, still struggling. Dinah is stubborn, and if she doesn't want help, she's not gonna get help. I sat back and watched her struggle for a little while longer, then I stepped in. I maneuvered her arm, and was able to get it out of the sleeve. Then I took her coat, and put it by mine.
"And you say Mila is the dork? Dork, you would've been there for a long time if I hadn't stepped in, so stop pouting and lets make hot chocolate," I said, looking at Dinah, who had a pout set across her face. I giggled and grabbed her hand, dragging her towards the kitchen. Dinah abruptly pulled back from my grip, and stood cross-armed and glaring.
"You think you can call me a dork, then try to drag me somewhere? Fool, that's not how it works. I'm not going anywhere until you apologize," she said, trying to maintain her straight, no funny business face. I started walking towards her and pulled her into a hug.
"I'm sorry for being a jerk and calling you mean names. Please forgive me?" I asked, my arms around her waist, looking at her. Her face softened, and a easy smile broke out.
"Of course you goof," she said, returning the hug, burying her face in the crook of my neck.
"Shit, Dinah!! You're nose is fucking freezing," I said, jumping back. I rubbed my neck where her freezing cold nose had just been.
"I'm sorry, but we did just walk around for hours in the cold," Dinah said, "how about that hot chocolate?"
"Sounds good, lets go," I said, as we both marched towards the kitchen. I pulled out everything, then began to start the hot chocolate. I put the milk in the microwave, set out the mugs and scooped the powder into them. Once the milk was done, I poured some into each mug, and began to stir it. Once the powder was fully mixed, I grabbed the marshmallows. I placed some into each mug, then put all the supplies back. I turned around, to see Dinah, sitting on the counter behind me, watching my every move. She had a strange, expression on her face, so I approached her. "Whatcha thinking about?"
"Nothing really important," she said, her face still containing the strange expression. I can tell she's hoping I'll let it go, but I won't. I want her to talk to me.
"I hope you know that I can tell when you're lying, and you're lying right now. Dinah, I want you to talk to me. What's bugging you? You were fine before this, what's on your mind?" I asked stepping, again, closer to her.
"Y/n, what do you do when you really like someone, but you don't know if they'll like you back? But it's not as simple as just a random person who you don't really know but kind of. Lets say this person is extremely important to you and you need them, but if you tell them, and they don't return the feelings, then you lose them." she asked, looking down at her hands. Shit, first of all, how do you answer that? and second, she likes someone?!? After thinking for a minute, I decided to give her my answer.
