Following the girls out into the living room I saw that they had already changed as well. Becca was wearing her beloved skinny jeans and a flowy tee with a lighting bolt dancing across her torso. Her long hair was straightened, her eye makeup was fierce and bold. All around she looked confident in her 'don't mess with me' look/attitude. Liz had opted for shorts and a loose tank top that read her favorite Shakespeare quote 'Love looks not with the Eyes', and sandals that laced up her calf. Her long hair expertly braided to the side.
"Well since everyone looks fabulous let's get going." We grabbed our jackets and keys and headed out the door.
Walking to the quad area, we could already hear the music playing and smell the food cooking making our stomachs rumble. Getting closer we saw that some people were already dancing and playing games such as hackney sack and limbo. There was a long table that held all sorts of food that made me want to dive in head first and gorge myself. The whole display was entirely overwhelming.
Grabbing our plates we headed over and picked out samples of everything before sitting down. Everything was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection, almost to where it was melting in your mouth. Even the vegetables were good. I had picked some strawberries to go with my meal and picked up a little cup that was sitting next to them full of cream. The taste exploded in my mouth making me moan at the deliciousness.
"This is sooo good." Becca moaned. "How did it get so good?"
"I don't know but I want the recipe for this sauce." I said licking my fingers.
"Mind if we join you ladies?" said a deep voice coming from behind us. Turning around we saw four good looking guys standing with their plates piled with food, smiling at us sheepishly.
"Sure, we don't mind." Becca winked.
Making their way around us, I quickly grabbed a napkin trying to wipe away any sauce or crumbs from my face as a tall dirty blonde sat next to me. Tucking his long legs underneath him, he turned to me and reached out his hand, "Hey, I'm Xander."
Dear god, his voice is very deep. "Mia. Nice to meet you." I said reaching my hand to his. Returning to my food I tried to cover up my embarrassment of sitting next to a total hunk by stuffing my face.
"So, where are you guys from anyway?" Becca grinned.
"I'm David and I'm from the great state of California and the rest of these idiots are from Florida." said the blonde dreamboat.
"Oh that's awesome" Becca was practically glowing, she's always dreamed of moving down to California and getting away from here. "Would you mind telling me a little more about it? I've always wanted to go to Cali."
"Sure no prob."
As the two of them rambled on together about living on the coast and swimming with dolphins, one of the other boys was trying to get Liz to open up. She was always shy around boys and because of that it made us a little protective of her. But from what I was seeing she was opening up comfortably and smiling at his efforts.
He was cute with his shaved head and structured face, but he wasn't my type. Either way, if he hurt her in any form we were gonna get busy in landscape business. However it was difficult to focus on protecting Liz when I had my own Adonis sitting next to me watching the scene unfold.
"They look like they're having fun together, wouldn't you say?" With that I was brought out of my trance staring into Xander's brown eyes. Realizing I was staring at him I had to say something fast.
"Ya they do. It's strange to see Liz opening up to a guy she just met, she's usually very shy."
"Really? Seems like Ryan has the gentle touch after all." he joked. "Usually he's the black sheep of the herd."
Before I could say anything a huge man literally crashed between us reeking of alcohol. "Hey kids enjoying the party?" he slurred.
"Ya man, who knew that Hestia would make this so lively?" Xander replied calmly as if this was normal for him. Laughing the man sat up with a 'oomph' and stared at me.
"Missy this isn't a party, you should wait until Hesty goes to bed and then the real party will start. I can't believe she wouldn't let me help plan. I mean c'mon, I AM the party." waving his arms around, I rushed to duck trying not to spill my drink all over myself.
"Ok, ok, D. we know you're the party. Why don't you spread the word about the party to that crowd over there and well stick around for the after party later sound good?" Xander laughed pulling the man to his feet. I however was still too stunned that someone was already drunk this far into the party.
"Sorry about that, he's a great guy once you get to know him but he can get a little out of hand. But hey, what are you gonna do he is the god of parties and wine after all."
"Wait what? He's the god of wine and parties?" I gasped.
"Ya that was Dionysus, or Bacchus if that's easier for you. One of the big twelve." He laughed at my star struck face looking back at the deity sauntering around like any other drunk man. "Didn't you know that?"
"No, I haven't meet any of the other gods up close and personal yet like that."
"Well you had to do it at one point or another." he laughed.
After Dionysus had landed between us things finally began to relax a little before the music started up. Always first to the dance floor, Becca grabbed all of us and forced us to chacha and shimmy until the room was spinning. At one point, the song changed into something slow giving Xander the opportunity to swoop me up into a comfortable sway. It wasn't awkward or forced, it felt right to be dancing with him.
"I'm gonna dip you." Xander said.
"What? Wait, no!" I protested. Ignoring my pleas Xander dropped me into a dip. Clinging to his back, I let my head fall back as my hair brushed the grass before I was sprung back up. Smiling I never wanted that dance to end.
"See that wasn't so bad was it?" All I could do was laugh, at least he didn't drop me. How embarrassing would that be?
After the song ended the music speed up into a lively tune. Laughing and twirling around I accidentally bumped into another person causing his drink to spill all over his white shirt. Shit.
"Ops so sorry about that. Guess I got carried away." I quickly apologized embarrassed.
"Its fine, its just punch." His green eyes pierced me to the dance floor. Whoa this guy is intense, my heart was pounding in my throat. We stared at each other for who knows how long before I broke contact staring at his now stained shirt.
"I'll definitely see you around." And with that he walked away. Nothing else to say. Finally feeling like I was able to breathe I returned to my friends and began dancing.
Almost as if on cue, when Hestia announced that she was headed inside for the night, the entire party erupted with loud music and exciting energy. Dionysus had definitely pulled through with his promise of an after party. Forgetting my awkward encounter with Mr. Green Eyes, I decided to let loose and have fun.
Somewhere between dancing and getting water, the room began to spin until nothing else mattered except to dance. Boy was this gonna hurt in the morning.
Sorry for the late update. My schedule has been crazy but I will try to keep a constant update on these chapters and I cant wait to show you all how this story unfolds. Please tell me what you think.
