It was an another beautiful day in the Beach City. Perfect summer weather you would say. Sun was shining on the clear blue sky without a hint of any clouds. The ocean was sparkling with clear blue waters and the beach had a lot of visitors.

But even though it was so nice outside, you were in your house.

You were home, relaxing while reading books. You really loved reading and this was your picture of a perfectly spent time. You couldn't understand why some people didn't read at all... books are just so entertaining to you! It was a way to live many lives and go on amazing journeys while being in the comfort of your own home. You had a large collection of various titles and authors and you were one of the main customers of the local bookstore. Even all the librarians in the local library knew you by name.

Suddenly, you heard heavy footsteps comming your way from upstairs. It had to be your roommate, that just moved in a few days ago.

Jasper.

You weren't surprised that the others decided for her to live with you. Lapis and Peridot wouldn't let her in the barn with them, they would feel too uncomfortable, and the Temple, nor Steven's house did't have enough room for her. So it was the best decision that she should live with you, in your house, a street away from the Boardwalk.

Not that you were complaining. You really liked her. She's surprisingly a nice and caring person, when she isn't angry. She really tries to learn more about Earth and its inhabitants. She knew basicaly nothing about the things humans do in general when she became one of the Crystal Gems. Steven usually taught her those things, but sometimes it was onto you to explain, why you can't just beat the crap out of someone when they tell you, that girls shouldn't be this big and have such big muscles. That reminded you to ask, if Kevin is out of hospital already, and apologise once more to him.

She obviously just came out of her room, which was your former quest room. She apparently liked it, as she spent quite some time there every day.

The footsteps stopped behind your armchair.

You didn't look up, until you felt locks of someone else's hair, most certainly hers, falling over your shoulders. You raised your head, only to see Jasper leaning on the armchair, looking into your book.

Your cheeks lit up into a light blush. Seeing her from this distance and with her hair flowing like this, she looked really beautiful. But you couldn't say she didn't all the time.

You smiled at her.

"Hi Jasper! Finally came out of that room, huh?" you said as she shifted her attention to you.

"Hey..."

She looked at the book again and then back at you. "Say, (y/n), what is it you're doing right now? I see you doing this all the time..."

A smile stretched across your face. You were waiting for her to ask about this, you can finally introduce her to the amazing world of books and many great stories. Maybe she'll like it. And then you can spend countless of hours reading together, just the two of you bookworms, sitting so close together...

You quickly waved the thoughts away, feeling your cheeks turn into even darker shade of pink.

"Uhhhh... (y/n)?" she said, after you left her hanging for some time without an answer.

"Oh, yeah... I'm reading!" you finally said. She nodded and leaned her head on her hand resting on the armchair.

"I remember Steven mentioning this when he taught me how to understand and write your weird language... You seem to enjoy this a lot."

You nodded quickly "Yes! It's very exciting!"

She walked around the armchair and sat on a huge sitting sack in front of your armchair, which you bought for her the day she moved in. You thought normal human chairs were too small and uncomfortable for her.

She looked at you, lightly confused, but very curious. "How can staring into a pile of paper and words for hours be any exciting? I can take you to our sparring courses, if you want to see something REALLY exciting! From the time Steven and Amethyst got stronger, there is some neat stuff to be seen!" she grinned widely, remembering how the duo almost managed to beat her without fusing. Even though she was a little angry on herself, that she was almost beaten, she was mainly proud of them. They trained under her lead after all.

You frowned slightly "Come on, Jasp, just give it a chance! I swear you're going to like it!"

She huffed and blew a strand of hair away from her face.

"Fine. I'll give it a go. If that'll make you happy." You smiled and nodded.

"Very happy."

You closed your book after placing in a bookmark, before you stood up and walked to one of the many bookshelves lining the walls of your living room. You took out a few books that were packed with action, that you thought she might like the most, and brought them to her.

After she read the titles, she nodded in maybe approval, and smiled at you, muttering a quick 'Thanks', before she opened one of them and started reading.

You two spent the entire day in your house, reading. Steven came inside once, but when he saw you two were busy, he didn't want to disturb. She seemed to like it after all, which made you really happy.

After two hours of this, you moved to sit next to Jasper on her sack, as she wanted you to read the book with her, because she said she really liked it and thought it was funny and quite amusing. You didn't know why a sad, mainly war and death centered story was funny to her, but you didn't mind it. As long as it made her happy. Seeing her like this was a wonderful sight for you, it made you feel happy and bubbly inside.

When it was begining to be dark outside and you had to turn the lights on to see the letters properly, you were really tired. Your eyes started to slowly close themselves on their own and you didn't have the strenght, nor the will to drag you half asleep body upstairs. It seemed too far away to you.

You tried to focus on the words printed on the paper, but you couldn't hold your attention for long enough. All you could think of was the sweet, sweet embrance of sleep. You leaned against her strong hand at first and before you realised it, you were falling asleep, slowly sliding into Jasper's lap. The last thing you felt, before going into the world of dreams, was her hand wrapping around your waist to keep you from falling on the ground, pushing you more into the orange gem's body. You smiled before you finaly fell asleep.

You slept really well that night, your dreams were full of your gem roommate.

When you woke up in the morning, you found Jasper asleep too. It didn't surprise you very much though, as from the time Steven showed it to her, she did it regularly.

What did surprise you quite a bit, was her hand still coiled around your body, as her other hand held loosely a book. It brought a smile and another light blush to your face, seeing her in this peaceful state.

You sighed, a bit sleepily and turned to face her, wrapping your arms around her, grinning, as you rested your head on her chest .

Maybe you could sleep another five minutes.
