Meant to Be?

Chapter 2

I turn my head and squint to see the sun shining through the blinds. I didn't even remember that I feel a sleep the night before. I planned to stay up all night and work on homework and talk to Corbin, but I guess I passed out instead. I look at my phone and it's 6:20. I rush out of bed and throw a pair of jeans and a hoodie on and started to make my way to the bus. Unlike every other day, I took my time getting to the bus. I just listened to the early birds chirp. I can't stop smiling at the thought of me and Corbin being friends. I get to the stop right as my bus pulls up. I quickly make it to the back of the bus and plug in my headphones so I don't have to listen to the two leeches. When we pull up to Emily's stop, she isn't there. I look outside for a while, zoning out about life. After the bus slammed okn it's brakes at a stop sign I snapped out of it and returned to my phone. I scroll through facebook until we get to school.

As soon as I step off the bus I feel my anxiety hugging me. I was so happy to see Corbin, but school is still hard for me to handle. I slowly made my way into the school. I waved to my favorite teacher when I entered the building. I normally stop and have a conversation with him until classes start but I wanted to find Corbin. I walked to Corbin's normal spot. He stands outside of one of our schools office, When I get there was Corbin, Tyler, Tristan, Skylar, Tori, and JayJay. I waved and smiled at Corbin and went over to Tyler and JayJay.

"Hey you two," I smiled at the two of them and leaned on the table they were sitting at.

"Hey," Tyler didn't look up from his phone to greet me but he put his hand on my shoulder.

Jay just waved as she was too busy putting makeup. I kind of tried to hide behind Tyler as I am too shy to actually talk to Corbin in person too much. Corbin talked to Skylar and Tori as me and tyler just play on our phones. The school bell rang throughout the halls and everyone started to get up to disperse to their classes. Tyler gave me a hug and left for his class and Jay followed him. Skylar, Tori, and Corbin were saying bye to each other. Skylar left to go walk around and Tori gave me a hug before leaving. When they left it was just me and Corbin. I am obviously awkward and don't say anything, I just smiled and began to walk up the stairs to my class. I look next to me and he is walking next to me. I gave him a confused face and he just let out a laugh.

"I don't have a class and Ridgway is a cool teacher, so I was just going to sit in your class," he smiled and opened the door to the classroobm for me.

I walked in and sat down in my usual seat away from everyone else. He went and talked to Ridgway about staying in his class for first period. I could hear Ridgway harassing him asking him if we were already a couple. I couldn't help but to laugh at the conversation. Corbin walked over to where I was sitting and took a seat next to me. He has his headphones in and was scrolling on his phone. I went back to my phone as well.

"You're just going to ignore me?" Corbin laughed when he asked me that.

I giggled and shook my head, "No I was just reading something on my phone."

"Don't be so serious I was just joking," he elbowed me and laughed.

I couldn't help but to blush. I went back to my phone. As I was scrolling through tumblr i saw that a message popped up on my phone from him.

Why aren't you doing your work?

I laughed and looked up at him, "This is a come to class and do nothing type of class. You get an A as long as you come to school. It is supposed to be about philosophy but it's more like a study hall."

He mouthed the word "Oh" and went back to his phone, "What are your other classes?"

"College American history, biology, and algebra two," when I said algebra two I sighed.

"What? You don't like math?" He looked up at me.

"Ya, and it doesn't help when you're failing it," I said with a sarcastic laugh.

His eyes lit up, "Well math is my best subject, if you ever need help I can help you."

I smiled and nodded my head. I went back to my phone and watched videos on youtube trying to pass the time. Finally Ridgway said his goodbyes to us, basically it's his way of telling us to get out of the classroom. I walk out into the hall with Corbin in silence. I walked next to him as I was on my way to biology. As we were about to pass the stairs he stopped me turned toward me.

"My class is downstairs, see you at lunch?" He smiled and began to put his headphones back in.

I smiled and nodded at him. He held out his arms, I was confused but shortly realized he wanted a hug. I gave him a wimpy hug but blushed the whole time. When he released he smiled at me and turned to walk down the stairs. It's kind of funny how excited I am over one boy hugging me. I rushed to biology to let my favorite teacher, Mrs. Callicoat, know everything that has been happening lately.

"Oh. My. God. We hugged!" I tried to keep it quiet.

She gave me a look of confusion. I forgot that I haven't talked to her about Corbin yet.

"Corbin hugged me," I said laughing.

She laughed and rolled her eyes at me. I looked around the classroom to see where I could sit. Where I normally sit was being occupied by Jacob so I just sat down at Callicoats Desk. As soon as I sit down I go back to my phone. Everyone is working on some cell project and Callicoat is teaching but I already got my project done.

The rest of the day went by fast and it was already time to go home. I sat in the hall waiting for the bell to officially dismiss us when I get a text. It was from Corbin. As I read it my face went pale and my mind began to race.

Do you like me?

I looked at the text for a bit. Normally I would confront Emily or someone about it so they could help me reply but instead without even thinking about it I replied.

Yes.

I looked at my phone as my heart raced. I was so stupid for just saying yes, I should have talked to someone first. I felt a buzz and looked down to read the message

Idk. I just got out of a relationship.

I knew that he was going to say something along the lines of that. I should've went to someone before replying to his message. I got up from where I was sitting and rushed to the bus to avoid him. As soon as I got onto the bus I looked around for Emily hoping that she just missed the bus this morning. She wasn't on there. I walked to the back of the bus and sat down. I put in my headphones and stared at the front of the bus until the doors closing hoping Emily would get on. I wanted to talk to her about what happened. I screenshotted the conversation between me and Corbin and sent to her.

When the bus stopped at my stop I walked home as quickly as possible. Hardly anyone got off at my spot today, thankfully for me no one tried to make conversation. The walk to my house seemed like it took longer than it normally does. As soon as I entered my house I went up to my room. I looked at my phone hoping to see that Emily texted me back but she didn't. I looked at Corbins message one more time before I climbed into my bed and went to sleep for a nap.
