"Stallion." She replied slyly, cocking one ear back, her smooth voice striking me like lightning. Her eyes danced with mischief, her bright orange tail swishing her side, even though no flies were bothering her. This immediately left the correct impression that she was not to be trusted. The hairs caught the light, shining brightly, and I just wanted to press my black nose into the silky, luscious strands. Darn this fence... I glared down at it. Much to her amusement.  Turning away from me slightly, she began to graze, making it appear she did not notice me any further, her ears flicking back. Quite an effective tactic...

Normally I would play this flirting game back. But she just shocked me too much, I couldn't even recall one of my moves. She was so... Smooth.  I couldn't think of a proper sentence. Yes, I have played this game before. It's not my fault mares take an interest in me... I was amazing. I just never took an interest in them. But I enjoyed playing along. This player was a master at the game. But instead of real interest, I could tell she was teasing me. That she had experience in this field. Of course, due to her looks, of course she has had stallions after her. My ears flickered back, and I peered down at her quizzically. How could she not care? Just like that? After all, I am The King. Everyone in the barn knew that! This was not possible! This was preposterous! She had to be pulling my leg!!

"I'm The King." I tried to put emphasis on my name, just so she would notice, my eyes narrowing slightly, challenging her. She had to know me then! Then she would be all over me, and for once I really... REALLY wanted that to happen. And I would come out successful, like I always do. It was a fool-proof plan. Well, at least that's what I thought...

"Hmmm... Well, that is a nice name." She smirked lightly around the fresh green grass hanging from her lips, not meeting my gaze still. If I knew better, I would think she knew who I was. She was just taunting me. And it was killing me.  "I'm Missy." She lifted her head, finally meeting my gaze, fixing her shocking blue eyes on mine. I immidiatly froze, the ice in her eyes spreading through my veins, freezing my blood. But it wasn't cold ice... It was unresistable, not undesirable. It was beautiful. She tilted her head innocently, but the smirk that was slowly growing on her face, sent in my direction, said anything but innocent. I tipped my head back in the same direction as hers, but my stance more of a confused one. She had to be kidding!

"Don't you kn-know me?" I stuttered in surprise, staring at her ridiculously as she lowered her head again to graze casually, not even meeting my gaze again. I had no control of my tongue, and my mind was going haywire. I was frozen, and frustration was hot enough to almost melt the ice. At the same time, wanting so bad to make this mare notice me, it was driving me crazy. I wanted her to know who I was!! She raised her head, pausing, studying me, as if having to think, her tail swishing slightly, coming to a sudden realization. I stared at her hopefully, my hope building up in my chest, waiting for her to say 'OH! The King! My my, you're awesome! The best ever! MARRY ME!'. That would be the best.

"Ahh... The King. The name doesn't ring a bell..." She said slowly, smiling lightly as she peered up at me with those amazing eyes through her thick lashes, getting more and more amused by the second at my reactions. I could feel my hope sprialing like a plane, crashing and burning in my heart. "But, I do believe I have seen you walking down the isle. Giving your rider quite some time, eh?" She nickered softly. Obviously she was referring to my days on the treadmill... Good lord, she saw me at my most embarrassing moments!! Sweaty, and acting like a total brat. A sense of regret pulsed through my veins, and I looked down, pawing at the mud in embarrassment. That stupid treadmill. It was never good news. My ears flicked back, thoroughly confused still. This was possibly the oddest conversation I have ever held... I was a celebrity in the barn, for Christs sake! That was like... Having no idea who Justin Bieber was! Not that I'm at all like Justin Bieber...

"... B-b-b-but!" I insisted, stuttering helplessly. She raised an eyebrow, nickering softly, her eyes shining. "I'm... Aren't I... Popular among mares?" My ears drooped, my shoulders slumping. I stared up at her, my head dropped, hardly any lower than hers due to her size compared to mine. I felt helpless! Like a fool! Perhaps I had been miss informed? What if mares didn't know about me at all?

"Ouch, this must be harming you're ego." She rolled her eyes, her ears flicking back. She huffed, her sly smirk returning. "And I thought I was rather famous along the stallions. There clearly has been some miss communication going around. What a shame..." She said tauntingly. I huffed, frowning lightly. This is sooo unfair...

That's when James walked back in, huffing, Rosy in tow, gripping her hand tightly. She was wailing and crying, shaking her head, her once warm blue eyes were an icy cold color (More in a sour way than Missys, of coure), the whites around them tinted with a bright red. And from the look on James face, she had been doing exactly that all day. It was depressing to see her like that. Her cheeks were pale, tearstained, tears rolling and rolling down her cheeks. Releasing her hand, ignoring Rosys protests, he snatched up Missys halter off the post, striding directly to her gate. Her head snapped in the direction of the two, her bright red ears flickering back in discomfort.  Swinging it open, he strode directly to her, his teeth grinding together. He stuffed the halter onto her, mumbling complaints and curses under his breath. Snapping it in place loudly, causing Missy to flinch, he spun on his heel, stomping out, grabbing Rosys arm and dragging her after.

"Cya later, stallion." Was the last thing she neighed over her shoulder before being pulled away from me, out of reach, just as before. And I swear my heart tore in two at the sight of her being hauled away.

I'm counting on that promise.
