Life and career[edit]
Kilgallen was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up nearby in Kensington, Maryland. She received a BFA in printmaking from Colorado College in 1989 and an MFA from Stanford University in 2001.[2]
Though diagnosed with breast cancer, Kilgallen opted to forgo chemotherapy so that she might carry a pregnancy to term.[3] She died in 2001, at age 33, three weeks after the birth of Asha, her daughter with her husband and collaborator Barry McGee. Kilgallen has since been the subject of several posthumous retrospectives.[4]

Kilgallen's first major group exhibitions appeared in 1997 and included the first Bay Area Now show at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts,[5][6] soon followed by a solo exhibition at The Drawing Center in New York City. In 2000, she and Barry McGee had a featured exhibition at the UCLA Hammer Museum.[7] A number of major exhibitions took place after her death. In 2002, her work was chosen for that year's Whitney Biennial. In 2005, a survey of her work was shown at the Gallery at REDCAT.[8][9] Her work was also an important part of the 2004–2006 touring exhibit, Beautiful Losers: Contemporary Art and Street Culture.[10][11][12]
Who is dead.
Doryphoros (Spear Bearer)
The Doryphoros is a Roman marble copy of a Greek bronze statue made by Polykleitos sometime between 450 and 440 BCE.
Form
The Doryphoros is a 2.12-meter-tall marble figure displaying a male of good physical condition. The figure is walked, with left leg forward and right arm gripped. From its name, we can assume that it would have been holding a spear, but this has been lost to the ages.
Function
The piece was found at a palestra in Pompeii, a training ground for athletes. Being a recreation of an original Greek work, it is possible that the Romans sought to preserve their art. They may have used the piece as an inspiration for athletes as they trained. Romans, through their admiration of the Greeks, copied their art. The art of Ancient Greece symbolized leisure, luxury, learning, and the arts, things the Romans wished to attain.
Content
The figure is shown walking, left leg planted firmly on the ground. The knees and hips create a parallel line between with the angle their tilted, and the head is subtly looking left. The figure's right arm is outstretched, as it was meant to hold a spear The white marble has seen discoloration around the legs and pedestal. The overall position of the figure creates a subtle S shape across the vertical axis.
Formal Elements
The sculpture stands vertically, and maintains a white coloration throughout. It is sculpted in the round, and features are defined with varying degrees of emphasis. The piece is a prime example of contrapposto, and presents itself with harmony through counterbalance. The alignment of the shoulders is parallel with that of the ankles, they both tilt to the right. The same can be said of the pelvis and knees, except they tilt to the left. The figure is animated, unlike the stiff qualities of the kouros preceding it. Its form is natural and close to life; however, it is not meant to portray an individual. The marble of its construction is smooth and glossy.
Context
The original piece of bronze was created by the renown Greek artist Polykleitos. He strived to create mathematical ratios for the perfect human body. Thusly, our sculpture here is based on such principles. The work portrays the perfect human body, its creator called it Canon. It was meant as a formula that could be idealized and followed, others could reproduce this "perfect figure" with the right knowledge. The Romans copied the Greeks in their admiration for perfection. Many of the marble works seen today are replicas of bronze Greek pieces that may have been melted down or lost.
Meaning
This piece was meant to demonstrate Polykleitos' formula for the perfect human body. The Romans wished to replicate the piece, and in doing so, the formula itself. While the equation has been lost to time, the product of its work still stands.
(this is for comedic purposes only do not attempt to copy the grade you receive will be far inferior to anything you could gather by learning from your own accord, knowledge is an integral part of growing up and it brings me such joy to see the young generation indulge their lUST FOR KNOWLEDGE)

And then go to church and repent killed himself because he was so sad that New Mexico banned homogenious.
