Chapter 5

 Terri

I walked around thinking of the events of yesterday. All of it seemed to happen in a blurr. First Harry came back, then we went on a “date”, next I almost got gutted by some stranger, then I end up in the hospital, then I go to my sisters house and that little devil called my phone and it all went downhill from there.

The smell of different fragrances coming out of many different departments distracted me from my worried state. I decided to go and look inside of an antiques store, hoping I could buy some time.

“Hello and Welcome to Ariel’s Antique Shop. How may I help you?” a girl at the front desk called to me. I turned my head to face her and gave a quick smile. She seemed no younger than I was. Her long red hair was plaited and her green eyes pierced me. I don’t know what it was but she seemed awfully familiar.

“Umm...No thanks. I’m just tryna buy time. Shopping alone I guess.” I replied shrugging my shoulders and putting my hands out to the side to show no one was there. The girl smiled and looked down at the book that held her attention. 50 Shades of Grey...What a wonderful book to be reading on the job. I commented in my head. My hands rummaged around on the different shelves, picking up small jars or old toys. One thing in particular caught my eye. A necklace with an ivory cross on it. I was so bewildered by its beauty. I mean sure, its just ivory, but this necklace drew my attention.

“I’d like to buy this.” I said walking up to the cashier. The girl looked up, biting her lip. She quickly slipped her lip from behind her teeth and nodded.

“That’ll be....uhh...15 dollars....I think....Yeah! That’ll be 15 dollars.” the girl spoke, handing me my necklace. She paused for a second and stared at me puzzled. I raised an eyebrow and looked behind my shoulder, thinking something behind me caught her eye. But no one was behind me. I slowly turned my head towards her and cocked my head back as I noticed her eyebrows furrowed and her eyes focused intently on my face. Her freckled nose was scrunched up and her lips were curled at the corners.

“Do I know you from somewhere?” she asked, standing up straight. I furrowed my eyebrows in astonishment. I had just thought the same thing. I swore I knew her from somewhere. Like....in a picture or something.

“Yeah! I remember you! I mean....we’ve never met but I’ve seen your picture many times!” the girl happily cheered. My confused expression remained. My picture? What the hell? Why would she have my picture? If she didn’t have my picture....then who did?

“Yeah you’re Harry’s girl aren’t ya?” she questioned. My features softened and I rolled my eyes. I should’ve known. Harry Styles, that little creep! He shows my picture off to people I dont even know!

Wait. What did she mean “Harry’s girl” ? I’m not “His girl”! I’m not anybodies “girl”.

“I’m not his girl...” I muttered under my breath. The girl licked her lips as if I said something that relieved her. I knew exactly what had put the girl at ease. She could have Harry now, knowing I wasn’t in the way. I knew i shouldn’t have been feeling this way but I almost felt....jealous.

“Oh...that’s sad to hear,” the girl replied with fake pity. I stared at her in disbelief. Was she really that clueless?

“Quit faking yourself dearie....you’re gonna make Barbie a bit jealous.” I spat before turning to walk out of the door. My heart ached a searing pain. I couldn’t comprehend what I was feeling but it was almost as if I felt like Harry was mine to keep. No one could have him.

My feet padded across the soft and warm carpets, taking in the fluffy sensation between my toes. I had just awoken from my daily afternoon nap. The white lights bounced off the walls, creating a soft glow. I walked through the hallway and around the corner, peering around the corner into the kitchen.  I rubbed my eyes and focused on the boy seated at the counter in the kitchen.

“Harry?” I asked walking closer to him. He turned his head and let his gaze pierce me to the spot. His face seemed tense and his arms were tightened.

“What did you tell Erin?” he shot, standing up, looming over me. I stared up at his tensed face, wondering who the hell Erin was.

“Who’s Erin?” I questioned. Harry scoffed and rolled his eyes. Apparently I should’ve known what he was talking about. My absentmindedness was irritating him.

“Don’t ‘who’s Erin’ me. You talked to her at the mall this morning. You said she was being fake? You said you weren’t mine?” He scowled. I furrowed my eyebrows and stared at him. So her name was Erin?

“Well yeah.....she was being fake. After I said I wasn’t yours, she had this fake sadness. She truly didn’t care whether or not I was or was not yours.” I informed him half-heartedly. Harry nodded, obviously hurt by my nonchalant attitude. I could tell he felt like I didn’t care. I seen his eyes grow darker with sadness, his lips curling into a small frown. He took a deep shaky breath and turned away.

“Can you leave me alone for a second?” Harry’s voice cracked as he pleaded his request. I shook my head and took a step closer to him, his back rising and falling quickly.

“Leave. Me. Alone....Please.” His curls shook softly and he spoke a little firmer than before. My heart was lurching in my chest, telling me ‘Don’t go any further....leave him alone’ but I had to figure out what was hurting this curly haired boy. I slowly took a step closer, trying not to make any sound but I could tell he already knew I was behind him. He remained silent as I drew closer. I reached my hand out to him and in an instant he turned around, grabbed my wrist and pushed me up against a wall. I stared at his flared nostrils and his focused eyes. It scared me for a second but i withdrew from my state of fear, quickly realising it was satisfying him.

Harry noticed my sudden resistance to his tough actions and loosened his grip, still pinning my hands to the wall. I grimaced and began to writhe under his strong hold. Harry dropped his head and took a few deep breaths before looking up into my eyes.

“I-I try not to hurt you....I tell you to leave when I know I’m going to get mad....But you don’t listen! You just antagonize the situation.... Do you like it when I get mad?” He asked softly, trying to calm himself down. I looked into his warm green eyes that had changed back into their bright state. Harry stared back into my eyes, waiting for an answer. I hesitated, taking in the beautiful sight of him. All of his features placed perfectly on his face. He let go of my hands and ran his fingers through my hair.

“I’m sorry...” I finally spoke in a low whisper, placing my hand on his chest. Harry nodded and gave me a small, crooked smile, his dimple barely showing. His head dipped low and his nose brushed against mine, making my eyes flutter shut. Harry stayed there for a second, his warm breath tickling my lips. After a moment of hesitation, I opened my eyes slowly and stared up at him. A smirk was plastered across his face.

“See...I told you you fancied me.” Harry rasped. I blushed softly and grabbed the nape of his neck, tugging his head down to mine. Harry groaned softly and cupped my chin, tilting my head up. My mind raced with the possibilities that could’ve happened in that moment. Worst-case scenarios were the only thoughts occupying my mind.

All of my thoughts quickly vanished when Harry placed his plump lips against mine, kissing me softly. I sunk into the pleasure of his touch and closed my eyes, kissing him back weakly. Harry let out a soft chuckle and pulled away.

“Are you okay love?” He asked. I nodded and blushed. Had he noticed my weakness? Had it found its way into our kiss? Obviously it did because Harry replied with.

“Seems like your kiss was lacking a bit of....umph.” I covered my face and giggled. I wanted to turn around and reply with “Yeah whatever...” but I didn’t want to irritate him. So I smiled. And everything was okay.
