Chapter 1.

I was 18 years old when I met him.
It was an accident.
We were in the auditorium of our college, to discuss the new dorm switch.
My eyes met his, and it all went from there as follows.

"Dorms 1A- 2Z in Tencent House will be moved to the newly remodelled Council House on the north side of campus. You will have a two week notice to transfer rooms, and will be cleared to come back after the forensic and investigation team gives permission. If you have any questions, please contact Manchester University student services." The dean informed in his I-have-a-doctorate voice.

My fellow students raised from their seats and grabbed their purses and coats, which I took as a cue that the assembly was over.

"Harry!" Someone called my name from a few rows behind me and I turned to see Zayn walking through the crowd towards me, followed by Perrie.

I cleared my throat to say hello, but Zayn just pulled me in for some kind of hand shake/hug. Pulling away, Perrie waved to me.

"Dude, aren't you dorm 1J in Tencent?" Zayn asked in an odd tone. Someone bumped into my shoulder from behind. Instead of leaving, the students seemed to just gossip in clusters around the auditorium.

"Yeah, why?" I responded and blinked in confusion. I never caught on quickly to things, and I needed to piss.

"God that's like, right where it happened. I'm Dorm 2B so I gotta move to Council too. It better not take too long because Perrie and I were gonna get a place near campus."

"Congrats" I muttered with sarcasm. Good luck making that last.

But then I furrowed my brows in confusion and looked up at Zayn, who was looking at Perrie, who was looking at the ceiling.

"What do you mean? What happened?" I questioned in an uneasy voice. Something was wrong, and I think that's what everyone was talking about.

"The crime. Nobody's got any details yet, but they've gotta clear the first two floors out of our building. We'll be at Niall's building temporarily until they can clean the evidence up and stuff. Heard his dorms' where the parties are." Zayn half whispered and shot me his beaming grin. Perrie just nodded along with what he said.

"W-what crime? Did someone die? Oh God..." I swallowed hard, my voice wavering. Images of dead bodies in front of my door filled my head. The investigation team needed to clear two floors. Two floor crime scene.

"Well nobody died, but I heard they kept running to try to get away. Put up a hell of a fight, blood 'twas everywhere. Two floors man. If they died, they fought to the end Harry." Zayn assured and I felt like my stomach was gonna upturn. His caramel eyes were full of an emotion I couldn't understand and I briefly wondered if Zayn even felt emotion.

"Oh god." Was the only coherent words I could muster. Perrie looked at me with her large, blue eyes. Zayn cackled softly to himself then looked back up at me. The auditorium was slightly less crowded. But the majority of the main campus' student body remained in cliques and audible whispers.

"Harry chill." Perrie said in a sudden serious tone, which was unlike her. It was in that moment that I realised Perrie was apathetic and didn't care about other people's feelings and God I just hate Perrie.

"Harry, it's okay. Nobody died, don't freak yourself out. I'll call ya later, yeah?" Zayn nodded with his hand on my shoulder and Perrie motioned to the auditorium door. The left quickly, for I wasn't exactly the most enjoyable company.

I reached down to my seat and retrieved my black pea coat and backpack, standing back up straight. A few students brushed past me, and I heard brief snippets of conversation.

"Tencent House."

"Nobody knows."

"Blood."

My stomach felt uneasy again and I slid my arms into my coat sleeves and turned to leave, only to see a guy on the other side of the auditorium staring straight at me.

At first I thought, ya know, he was looking at someone else. But the way his eyes seemed to be staring straight into my soul told me otherwise.

But something prompted me to button my coat and leave in a hurry, rushing straight out of the auditorium doors.
