"Do you want any particular drink?" I asked Laurie, and she shook her head.
"I'm not particularly fussed, Noah. Whatever will take me the longest to drink, because I really don't want to go back too soon," she chuckled, and I smiled down at her.
"I'll have two pumpkin spiced lattes, please," I said to the barista, and she nodded.
"Names please?"
"Noah and Laurie," I replied, and she scrawled on the cups, before turning to make the drinks. I turned to Laurie, and then nodded over to the table where everyone else was. "Shall we go and sit down?"
"Yeah, sure. I'm still in shock that you guys are actually buying coffee for me and letting me sit with you," she beamed, "Kind of a dream come true, in all honesty!"
"Hey Laurie! What kind of music do you like?" Courtney hollered, and Laurie paused for a minute.
"Well, I'm kind of really into alternative bands, so stuff like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Alt-J, The 1975, that kind of thing?" She winced slightly, wondering if everyone would judge her for that reason.
Thankfully everyone cheered, didn't judge her. Personally, I wouldn't judge her either, because that music is actually pretty cool, and if we all judged each other based off of music tastes or the type of blogs they followed on Tumblr, then we'd never get anywhere with regards to friendships.
"Hey, Laurie, do you wanna be in a "Squad Vlogs" video?" Keith asked, and I grinned at her, slightly apprehensive. I mean, what if she said no? She was game for the other video, but that was a complete fluke. She had no idea that it was going to be a video, I don't think. She nodded, and smiled back at me.
"I'd love to! As long as you don't have poor Noah here doing anything embarrassing again," she laughed, and I couldn't help but feel my face heat up. This girl, Laurie, she had such an effect on me, and yet I'd only just met her. No, Noah, stop that. You don't know whether or not she likes you back in that way, and if she ever would.
They started up the video, just something in the style of Lunchtime. It wasn't anything new to us, but it should've been for Laurie. However, she went through the video as if she was a pro, breezing through it all, laughing at the right times, joining in with the jokes, almost as though she was one of us.
At the end of the lunch, she said goodbye along with the rest of us and said the goodbyes with all of us, as if it was a normal video, before she said to me, "I had a lot of fun doing this Noah. Unfortunately, I have to go back and face a megabitch once more at school."
"You don't have to go back, you know."
"I do. I still have lessons. Remember?"
"Oh, right. Yeah, sorry, I forgot," I said, my smile faltering slightly. She noticed, and pulled me into a hug. She actually smelled really nice, like cherries, chocolate and fall. We didn't break apart when everyone started cheering behind us; in fact, I think she held onto me tighter.
"I don't want to go, I wish I didn't have to," she mumbled against my neck, and I chuckled slightly as she let me go.
"We'll take you back now, yeah?" I grinned at her, and she nodded.
"Yo, let's go homeslices!" Courtney laughed, helping Laurie to her feet and then walking with us out. "Last one to the car is a rotten egg!"
"Jesus, y'all know I hate running!" Keith whined, amidst all the yells and shouts of everyone. I jogged with them all, knowing full well I'd be last, but I needed a little time to think to myself. I couldn't have already started liking her, even though she was flawless. She liked the same kind of music I did, so that was a good thing. And her hugs were amazing.
"Come on Noah, we gotta go!" Laurie yelled, already in the car. I grinned to myself, and jogged all the way to the car. Yep, she was someone I could definitely get used to seeing more of.
A/N: Hollaaaaa lads!
(That was the lamest intro ever I'm so sorry)
Happy 2017!
Hope Christmas and New Years was good for you all, mine was surprisingly quiet. And, I turned 17! Yeah, I'm now a little bit more legal than I was last year...if you get where I'm coming from.
Heh.
Anyways, I know I said I'd update sooner, but it's been hectic. A-Levels are so stressful, and oh my gosh, there have been so many things happening. But hopefully I will actually update sooner than 3 months later!
Thanks for reading guys, I love you all so much <3
