"M-mom.."

It happened again.

That dream.

That damn dream..

It seems to haunt his mind nightly, only ever ending once the alarm goes off.
What would happen if he slept longer?

Would more memories appear?

Would they be more painful as the dream continues?

Adrien choked at the thought.

He wouldn't be able to handle it. He can barely keep myself together by seeing that one scene alone but.. That's the thing.
He doesn't want it to end. No matter how heartbreaking it is, it's a memory of her that he gets to see over and over again. When everyone was..

Was.. happy?

Does that mean he's not happy?
No.
No that's not it. His friends make him happy.
So does saving Paris with Ladybug.
You make him happy.
So incredibly so that you're why he gets up earlier than needed.

For two months now, he's been visiting you at the crack of dawn so he could spend time with you and after the night he's had, he definitely needs to see you.

However, you only know him as his alter ego, Chat Noir. He wants nothing more than to tell you but he can't afford his identity to be found out. That and Ladybug would blow a fuse. He promises to tell you but that won't be until he knows you wouldn't be put in danger.

So without wasting anymore time, Adrien hopped out of bed, transformed into his alter ego (much to Plagg's displeasure), and made his way to your balcony.

He stood there for moment, watching as you smiled down at a book you were reading. The fact that you waited for him made his somber heart swell.

With a smile, he tapped a small rhythm on the glass door before letting himself in.
"I see the early bird hasn't gotten the bookworm just yet."

You snort at his pun,"Of course! What bird would go near a worm protected by a cat?"

Chat chuckles and settles himself next to you on your bed with his head on your shoulder.
"How was your night?" He took your book and plopped it on the mattress next to him,"Didn't stay up all night, did you?"

"No," you hummed.

It was quiet after that, it usually is. You and him just holding each other in comfortable silence but Chat's behavior has been off lately. For the past few days he just seemed to hide his face from you and hold you like his life depended on it and right now..

Chat was tense, you could feel it in his arms that had wrapped themselves around your waist. So you pulled him to lay down with you and ran your fingers through his hair. He loosened up slightly and buried his face into your neck, already knowing you caught on to his off behavior. You always have.

"What's troubling you, Chaton?"

That doesn't mean he won't try to deter you anyway.

"Nothing, love."

You sighed, Is he really going to do this now?
"You know you can tell me anything right? You can trust me."

"I do trust-"
"Then tell me what's wrong." You cut him off. Now he knows he's not getting out of this one.

"It's stupid, really.."

The fingers in his hair stopped entirely as you exhaled heavily through your nose,"You not telling me what's wrong is what's stupid. Look, Chat-" you sat up, which causes him to as well but he refused to let you go and let you see his face"-you've been off for the past few days and I just- I don't like seeing you so upset!"

Holding him closer, you drew loose shapes on his back,"Just because you're a super hero doesn't mean you have to put on a strong face all the time."

You were right. He knew you were. Keeping any type of emotion locked up like this isn't healthy and an akuma could be waiting just around the corner if he keeps this up.

He slightly lifts his face away from your neck, his lips brushed against your skin,"I've been having this.. dream."
His voice trembled slightly but you urged him to continue,"About?"
You could feel him hiccup against you as he tries not to sob.

"My mother.."

Your eyes widen at this. He's told you about his mother before, about how she just up and disappeared.
Even after two years, her disappearance still haunts him.

"Not much I can do about that, minou."

Chat sat up slowly and wiped at his eyes with a small laugh, however, that didn't stop the on going tears.
"You do more than you know, trust me."

"How?" Confusion laced your voice.
Chat smiled a little brighter, his eyes crinkling at the edges,"You remind me of her.. you even call me the same nickname that she did.."

"Minou?"

He nodded,"Y-yea," he cleared his throat," And you- you're there for me, like you are now."
Chat grabbed your hand with a gentle squeeze. "You have made me so incredibly happy! And- and I feel so many things towards you that I can't put into words."

You stared in awe of the boy in front of you. You make him feel this way? "Truly?"

"Yes," He brought your hand to his chest. His heart was beating erratically. "Don't you feel it?"

Chuckling lowly, you drop your head to his shoulder to hide your embarrassment.

You never were all that great at expressing your emotions, always the listener and advice giver among your friends. When Chat entered your life, he immediately picked up on your emotional constipation and was quick to change it. It's still a work in progress--hence you hiding in his shoulder--but you have improved since then. You speak your thoughts more and hesitate less to ask for something; even if it's as small as asking someone to bring you a napkin while they were up.

But right now was too emotionally overwhelming. All that Chat was saying made your chest feel warm. The way his eyes held such softness- it was just too much! You couldn't hold eye contact anymore.
It felt like you were running away. Here Chat was, spilling his heart out to you and you hide from him.

Oh, god! What if he thought you were laughing at him!? That you weren't taking his sincerity seriously? That-
"(Y/n)? Are you Ok? Was that too much?"

You rapidly shake your head against him, not quite ready to come back up yet. "No-!"
But like hell will you let him have doubts. "No, Chat, that was- it-"

Chat laughed. It was a quiet noise, you felt it more than heard but he laughed none the less. You didn't mess up, thank god.

"I know, love. It's quite difficult to concentrate when the Chat Noir is near."

A mix of a groan and a laugh escaped your throat causing Chat to laugh harder as he held onto you tighter. Your hand still on his chest brought up to a chuckle filled kiss.

His laughter died down to a relaxed hum and he nuzzled his nose into your hair, "Thank you."

You went limp against him and pressed a chaste kiss to his jaw,"No need, minou."

"Je t’aime plus chaque jour."
