Nobody's Angel

Chapter 7

Ever since Maya had said those words, I have been thinking a lot of what could happen soon, and knowing she is also part of my kind, sure she was a corrupted at first. Still, she was able to gain Cameron's trust back. It turned out she is an Arch Angel so that she can fight, Maya did at least put up a fight. Still, it made me wonder if her workers were part of the supernatural, possibly if she worked with them, but only she knew. She didn't say anything about them, " I'm sorry for hurting you" I said as pushed my hair back from earlier stress, " It's ok, I mean you didn't know that I was getting controlled, by the way, be careful when meeting others, cause you just might never know" Maya said as she had a wet rag pressed against her forehead to calm down her temperature, " I will keep that in mind thank you, Maya, oh and by the way welcome to the group" Maya then looked at me in pure shock as her eyes widened, " Wait what do you mean?" " This Journal I have, my caregiver gave it to me, believe it or not, she said I need four people to help me with this journey, to find my parents, so Maya, I think you will help us a lot." It was all passed now, and we were flying once more in broad daylight, at least we had gotten our rest and had something to eat to gain energy, we had flown for about five hours as we still tried to fly to Nevada and it was taking way to long for my comfort. Still, at least we had another Angel on our side, " Hey..." I looked to my left to see Brennan; he seemed to be bothered by something he saw or noticed " Something has been off, for these couple of minutes" " Huh?? Why is that?" " For these couple of hours I've been feeling uneasy...someone has been following us" I then started to feel uneasy, I didn't know if his words were taking effect for this cause or if we are being followed, feeling the unknown presence, I looked below me as we were above a wide desert, it didn't have any sign of life at all, which got me more irritated as I started to look both of my sides, then behind me, seeing no one I felt a little better, but then I haven't looked above me, as I stared above me, as clouds were covering the blue sky, in an instant, I saw a shadow coming down fast. I didn't even get a chance to act while the figure swooped down and tackled me in the air as the attacker, and I fell fast." Angelica!!" I heard Cameron shout as I then hear grunts in the distance of him, Maya and Brennan fighting others as I continued to fall, I looked at my attacker as it was another female, having a side of her hair shaved as the other side was like a side Mohawk, which gave me an idea, I pulled on her one side of hair as she yelled in pain," You bitch!!" She went for an attempt to grab my hair. Still, I side slipped her as soon as she realized I escaped from her arms I kicked her down with my right foot as she fell below, seeing her fall I flew up as fast as I could to find Maya, Cameron, and Brennan, seeing them fighting the other attackers as a few of them plunged from being injured or having their wings getting injured. Yet, it felt like the fight wasn't going to stop at any time soon, so many people were coming back or were multiplying by the second, and we were running out of energy. Cameron was struggling with one of the members, and Brennan was doing it with ease, yet I could tell that he was tired, we had no other choice but to fly away from them, " Guys! Let's go; we must fly away from them! We have no chance to get them all!" And then I flew as fast I could, using the energy that I still had to fly away from our attackers, I looked behind me as I saw that they were following me from behind, flying as fast as they could despite their injuries or energy. Still, the tough part was that our attackers were coming at us with full speed, their wings were far different from ours, they looked burnt and thin, The girl that had tackled me was in front of the others, making it look like she was the leader, her wings had the burnt color, but the feathers were larger than mine were, " Angelica! Look ahead! You'll slow down at this rate!" Cameron yelled at my thoughts; my head snapped back to what was in front of me; all that was in front of me was sand and mountains, The Mountains! That will be the only way we can manage to get away from them! " Everyone! Follow me!" I then turned my direction toward the mountains; they were now by my side as we glided through the air toward the mountains, Looking back once more to see that the attackers were still behind us trying to catch up to our speed, quickly I gazed back at the mountains that were approaching closer by the minute, I searched the mountains for any sign of life or for anything to be beyond the inert atmosphere. I noticed something, a small cave that was hardly visible; I didn't even know what it was by first glance. Still, as we got closer to it, honestly it was too good to be true, I flew faster with Maya, Cameron, and Brennan as we were approaching to the cave closer but to throw them off we made a sharp turn around the mountain and hid behind a boulder as they passed us by, not even checking around them to see if we went in another direction, which was odd to me, I thought they would notice. Still, I guess it wasn't entirely the case. We decided to wait a little longer until we were for sure that they weren't coming back for us; at any rate, we then flew into the small cave exhausted from the flight and the battle, Brennan and Maya had a few bruises and a cut on his lip. However, Cameron still didn't get any bruise or scratch on him, not his face, his arms, not even his own hands had no scratch on them, as if he was untouchable, Cameron was sitting with me at the entrance of the cave as we stared at the nonliving atmosphere, knowing that nothing will show up like a passing car or even a single bird flying through the empty cloudy sky, yet none of that was available in this lonely atmosphere, " So how are you feeling?" I looked up at Cameron as he kept staring ahead, " Well, I'm tired that's for sure, but I think I am doing a bit better, I guess knowing that my parents and Courtney are alive is like my boost to move forward" I said as I joined him by looking ahead, " Then you're doing just fine, I'm sure Hannah will be proud of you" I then got confused as I turned to him as he kept staring ahead, I then smiled as I thought about Mrs. Tatum being alive. Well, I will keep on moving just for her. It is the afternoon now, the sun was still radiating heat making me feel like I might die from a heat stroke at any moment, It was still light out thankfully, and those other angels that were after us didn't appear with any sign I looked in Mrs. Tatum's Journal too see they are Assassin Angels, They were angels that were both cunning and reckless these angels don't have God as their leader, but that does not mean these angels can't respect some rules such as not harming innocent civilians, " Hey guys, we should get back on track and get to Nevada before night approaches" I told them while standing up and dusting my pants off, even though their already all worn out due to not being able to change for two days straight, As they were following my actions, we were now prepared to take off to head to Nevada once more.
