“Hey, mom. Do you have it?” I asked my mom using the intercom from my room. She was making dinner and I was in a hurry to finish my project.

“Yes, sweety. It’s in your daddy’s office. Dinner’s almost ready, by the way.” She replied. I could hear the noise from the kitchen.

“Okay, mom. Thanks.” I said, going to dad’s office and taking out the family albums he got from grandma Fanny.

I was already done with mom’s side of the family and what’s left is dad’s side.

Tomorrow is the deadline for the project and I’m really regretting not working on it immediately.

I was too tired after Sabrina’s birthday party on Sunday that I almost forgot that I have a project in Homeroom about tracing our roots and stuff.

After getting the instructions from our teacher, I was debating on whether to ask help from my parents. I surfed the internet and found some information about my biological parents.

It turns out that my father Doctor John Hopkins died along with the others in the laboratory that night when I was saved. He was 32 at that time. After he died, my mother, who was then 28 years old, reverted back to her maiden name, Selena Stewart. She is a Hollywood actress and is quite famous. She’s an A-lister based on what I’ve read and seen in magazines. She is still beautiful even with a bit of lines on her face, from stress, I assume.

It was said on the articles in the internet that after her husband and their six-month old child went missing, she took a break from the showbiz industry. It was two years later and still without news about her child, when she finally returned. She and a Hollywood producer, director and actor Lucas Mason rekindled their love for each other during a movie in which the director produced and directed, with her as the leading lady. A year later and more gossip about them surfaced. It turns out that Selena and Lucas had a child together even before she was born. Selena, a newbie actress was 25 and Lucas was 27, when Lucas Jr. was born. Not wanting to end her career, Selena decided to let Lucas raise their son. Lucas, who was already stable since he started acting when he was still a child, raised his son with the help of his mother Rebecca Mason, also a single-parent. It was rumored that Lucas’s father is a duke from Italy and Rebecca met him in one of her movie shootings. A year and a half later, Selena met Doctor John Hopkins. They got engaged and married after only six months of courtship. Rumor has it that Selena was pregnant and could not afford to do the same thing again.

And so, I was born and six months later, the news reported that I was abducted and that my father died a week later. Still no news about me, my mom went into depression and two years later, went back on her feet and starred in a major-hit movie wherein her new fiancé Lucas Mason is the director and producer. They’ve already been engaged for two years before deciding to finally get married. Their son Lucas Mason Jr. was already 7 years old and acted as their ring-bearer. Their pictures of them in the internet showed a happy family.

It seems that they’ve forgotten about me.

After Sabrina’s 8th birthday party on Sunday ended, I realized that I am still lucky that I have a new family. They still treated me like their own daughter even when Sabrina Coelho was conceived and that didn’t changed even after 8 years has passed. Sabrina treated me like her real older sister. She never questioned it despite what the kids in her grade said. Sometimes adults are really fond of gossip that they even include their children.

So before I went to sleep that night, I asked my dad Stefan and my mom Ellen if I can borrow their family albums for my Homeroom project.

“Hey, big sis. What’cha doin’?” Sabrina peeked.
