I walked across the muddy ground in my black suit that I never thought I would wear. Rain pours onto my head and clothes. I am soaked. I feel like I am drowning not because of the everlasting rain, but because I feel nothing. Memories clouded my head.

"Doug"  I heard her soft voice whisper in my ear.
"Yes Rya" I replied in a hushed whisper
"Can you sing for me?" She said
"Only if you sing with me"
"Oh alright"
"What song?"
"Our song"
I pulled up the song on youtube.

"Merrily we fall
Out of line, out of line
I'd fall anywhere with you
I'm by your side

Swinging in the rain
Humming melodies
We're not going anywhere until we freeze

I'm not afraid, anymore
I'm not afraid

Forever is a long time
But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side

Carefully we're placed for our destiny
You came and you took this heart, and set it free
Every word you write or sing is so warm to me, so warm to me
I'm torn, I'm torn to be right where you are

I'm not afraid, anymore
I'm not afraid

Forever is a long time
But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side
Tell me everyday I get to wake up to that smile
I wouldn't mind it at all
I wouldn't mind it at all

You so know me
Pinch me gently
I can hardly breathe

Forever is a long, long time
But I wouldn't mind spending it by your side
Tell me everyday I get to wake up to that smile
I wouldn't mind it at all
I wouldn't mind it at all"

"Iloveyou Rya" I whispered in her ear as I grabbed her hand.
" Iloveyoutoo Doug forever and always"
"Promise?"
"I pinky promise"

"You okay, Doug?" Hunter croaks out through holding back his tears.
"NO OF COURSE IM NOT! SHE PROMISED ME FOREVER, OKAY? FOREVER! SHE JUST..... she can't.. she can't do this to me," I sob as I collapse at the foot of her grave. Hunter leaves silently, leavening me alone with her. I grab fistfuls of the sticky mud and threw them at her headstone. I'm furious with her she just had to drive into that truck, didn't she? It could have been suicide, it could have been a accident. She promised me forever, and now that promise is just a song in the breeze with no one to sing along. I hate her for it.

"Please please come back. You promised me forever... comeback," I pleaded. I pressed my forehead against the cold surface of her headstone. "Please.. I would do anything to hold you in my arms, I would take your pain away and forgive all your mistakes. There's nothing I wouldn't do to hear your sweet voice again.  I wanna look into your eyes one last time and see the mischievous glint that use to be there. If there was one last day I had with you, I would hold you and never let you go. I would tell you how much I've missed you since you've been away."

My sobs filled the air. I lift my head up and see the sun peaking through the clouds. I think of her.  She must be telling me everything is fine.  I don't know. I take the single white rose and place it on the mound of dirt in front of her headstone. Without another word I collect myself and head back to the car.

I stare at the raindrops rolling down the window from the rain that is now gone. I close my eyes and let one last tear run down my cheek and into my lap. Heaven needed another angel
