The girl in white stood apart from a crowd of strangers. They whizzed past her with speed and left her sitting in the dust. No one cared about the lone girl in the center of their lives, no one listened to her speak.

"Ms, excuse me Ms., can you hear me?"
The girl glanced up, a lady with pretty auburn hair and cherry red lips smiled sadly at her, "I need to the focus."

Everything stopped. The people buzzing around her swirled away until there was nothing but the girl in white and the lady in a white-padded cell. The girl did not know how she'd gotten to that cell, she had no memory of entering it, she had no hope of leaving it.

"Ms., can you tell me what happened on the night of November 12th?"

The girl nodded, pushing a curtain of hair out of her face, "yes, yes, that's when the lights went out."

"Okay," the lady smiled sympathetically, "can you tell new happened? Before the lights went out"

"We were with our families" the girl hugged her knees, rocking back and forth, "we were with our families, and we were with our classmates, and we were alone"

"Who? Who was alone?"

"We" the girl sighed, "I guess you could never understand."

And then she began to tell her their story.
