The Light of the Moon

The full moon that hung in the sky lit up the deck perfectly, showing off just how many crew members there really were. Signe stood up on the balcony and they all turned to face her. As if in unison, all the faces looking at her smiled. It wasn't a pleasant smile, not even from Seananners who had previously seemed so warm and welcoming, but rather a twisted smile of nothing but evil intentions. This was the other side of the crew, they dropped the silly names, the joking behaviors, and all the niceties. These were the pirates.

Signe felt the warm breath of the Captain lean very close to her neck, "How about you go say hello?" he put his hands firmly on her shoulders again, "Maybe let them have a good time." All of the pirates below them began to laugh and heckle. Before Signe could squirm out of Jack's grip, he pulled her over to the stairs next to them and pushed her down. She managed to catch herself on them, but two pirates came out from behind her and grabbed her arms, forcing her down the rest of the stairs.

Signe quickly pulled her arms away from the grips of the two pirates, but only to run directly into someone else. All of them men around her were much larger than she was. She did her best to back away, but her path was block by another pirate. Before she knew it, they had begun to circle around her.

"No! Leave me alone!" she yelled, scurrying in between there legs. She ran to the opposite the end of the deck, but she knew there was only so far you can go. There is only so many places to hide on a ship.

She turned around to see some of them slowly walking towards her. "Where do you think you're going, little birdy?" One of them asked her. His voice sounded familiar. Signe remembered the other Irishman that was previously in the Captain's corridors. The Terroriser. "You think you can run from us?" he mocked.

As Signe was still slowly backing up, someone popped up from her right. Signe screamed in shock as she fell backwards. The laughter of the man that had surprised her rang out. She looked up to see another familiar face, Seananners. How he had managed to sneak across the deck and get directly next to her was a mystery.

"Oh Signe," he laughed, "why are you so scared? There is nothing to be afraid of, it's just a game." his words offered comfort, but his face, illuminated by the white light of the moon, told otherwise.

"Leave me alone!" Signe warned, struggling to get to her feet again.

"Oh here, let me help." Seananners smiled, quickly reaching out and grabbing her arm. He pulled her up faster than she could counter for, and she stumbled far forward. She fell directly against someone else. She pushed back and looked up at his face, although she didn't recognize him.

"I was told you were interested in going to the haul, that true? Cause there is a wonderful cell down there for you." he smiled. Signe might not have been able to recognize his face, but his voice was undeniable. This was the man that had taken her from the Tetris, and literally tossed her to the Red Lion. They had previously referred to him as Chilled. "I can't promise it's comfortable though."

Chilled spun Signe back around and pulled her back against his chest. Just like before, the crew gathered around her, joking and laughing. She did her best to squirm, but Chilled's strong grip on her wasn't going to let her run this time. Faces and voices all grouped around her. No one was making any moves against her, but just the fear of the thought was physicking her up. She was scared of the size and strength of all the men surrounding her, she was so small that she would just be and ant to them.

Signe closed her eyes to keep herself from crying, "ALRIGHT!" she yelled out above their voices. "I GET IT!" she wasn't talking to any of them.

They all went silent around her. Signe felt Chilled bend down, his breath hot against her neck as he whispered, "I think you should apologize to him." Pride silenced her for a moment as she stood there. Chilled lightly jostled her, "Come on!"

"Alright!" she replied. She still had her eyes tightly closed, so she didn't know where exactly she was sending her apology, so she yelled it like before, "I'M SORRY!"

All was silent around her for a moment before she heard everyone begin to back up or walk away. She slightly opened her eyes to confirm this suspicion, but Chilled still had a firm grip on her. When she was watching everyone else file away, Chilled let go. Before she could move, however, she was roughly grabbed again by her arm and pulled away. She looked up to see that it was Captain Jack that now had a hold of her this time.

He looked down at her was a stern look in his eyes, "Good. Now behave and do as you're told next time!" He began pulling her again. He quickly led her off the deck and brought her back into the Captain's corridor's. He pushed her into the room and stood at the door, "Now stay here and don't touch anything." he gave a sour smile again, "You don't wanna have to go through that again if you misbehave, do you?" then he shut the doors and locked them from the other side.

Signe stood in the middle of the room for a long while, just thinking. She thought about the horrors of earlier events, the attack on the Tetris, all the bodies, the damage, and the eventual destruction. She thought about the simple fact that she was being held against her will with no real knowledge of what would become of her either or if anyone knew she was missing yet. Then the brutal truth about what just happened. If she was thinking about it, she probably could've seen that the Captain wouldn't have actually let anything happen to her and it was all just for  the scare factor, but she wasn't thinking. Instead, she realized that she was shaking like a leaf and had tears running down her face.

Signe was brought up with a tough family and quickly adapted that life style of thick skin. Not much could get to her or genuinely scare her, but now she stood, terrified. If she was being honest, all she wanted right now was to wake up in her bed back in Sweden and hug her mom.

She wiped away her tears and ran a hand through her hair to try to straighten it. She adjusted her dress, ignoring the hand shaped bruises on her bare arms, then she sat on the bed again. Although the moon still hung in the air, she didn't have any desire to sleep. She stayed there, lost in her thoughts, until the sun rose again.
