I watched the grey skies, furrowing my eyebrowns, trying to make out what they are. Birds flew frantically in circles as I see droplets of rain getting bigger and bigger. I exhaled, a poof of hot white mist disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Rain. When the depression sinks in faster, death and sullen moods would still linger around. I like the rain, cold and wet teardrops fallen from the sky. I am and always will love the rain, the calmity and dripping of water calms me down. Deep in the interest, lies death, unexplained saddness and other feelings all mixed up together. I reached my hand out, as the drops soon multiplied quickly.
Millons, trillons, maybe even zillons. Uncountable drops of rain. Drip, drip, drop. The small puddle of water was slowly increasing, drop by drop. Tiny ripples cause by the fallen teardrops. The sky's crying. I heard a jingle of bells by the door, I snapped my head in its direction, a customer. More like an overgrown teen boy. I whiped the frown off my face and replaced it with a warm smile.
"Welcome" I sighed a little. And there I was, June Iverson, ready for duty.
"I want a oreo chessecake and brownie."
I keyed his order into the cash register, "That'd be 5 bucks, mister"
He nod and chucked a 10-dollar bill into my hands, "Keep the change, miss" He replied with an amazingly deep and soothing voice. My eyes widened an inch.
"T-thank you very much!" I stuttered nervously as I bowed a little. Had he really gave me a huge tip? I mean, it was a lot for me. People actually complained it was getting a little pricey here and there he was, giving me a huge tip and smiling that carefree smile. I'm damn sure he's loaded.
I heard him chuckle as I felt my face blomsom. As he twisted his heel, going to his seat, I keep having this thought. It was freezing, it goes fairly well with cheesecake and brownie too... "Excuse me, mister! Don't you want a hot drink with that? It's on the house" I quickly added in the last part, hoping I didn't look like a total moron trying to get him to spend his money again.
He either didn't hear me or just chose to ignore me, he continued walking till he reached the far end of the cafe. Then he stolled in front with eyes on me, almost meancingly. He rested both his hands on the waist-deep counter and inched in head forward a little.
"Hm?"
"U-um. I-I meant c-coffee.." I trailed off nervously. I don't even know what's more embarassing, the fact that I just offered a cute custommer coffee or the fact that he's within kissing range.
His gaze turned up to the ceiling while he tapped his pointer finger on his chin, as if he was considering to get coffee. He stopped and returned his gaze at me. "If you have it with me after your shift, I'll take your offer." He smiled, chilled and suave, then there's me, I didn't know what to say but I just stood there, nodding. And I knew very well my face was tinted red.
He smiled again before turning his back on me and head back to his seat. I glanced up at the clock, five in the evening. Woah, wait five already? Shoot, I can't have coffee with this person, no matter how cute he is, I've gotta go get John.
Now, let's see. My shift's ending at half-past five, and John gets released at half-past five. I have, at most five minutes to get there? That lousy excuse of a teacher is going to complain about me coming late again. Ugh. I hate her with a passion, stupid she-devil. I glanced back at the clock, how was I suppose to reject such an offer from a stranger? Not only its rude, but he's a cute stranger.
But John's more important than some stranger I just met at my workplace. No good, this means I'll have to reject that person? I turned my attention to the dude shoving a spoonfuls of cake into his mouth. I gave a sigh of defeat.
