I didn't know what was happening. One moment I was in her arms the next she was torn from me. I sat in our small apartment replaying the events of that day. My eyes were bloodshot and puffy, my hair tangled, and my cheeks burning. What was I going to do? Slowly I stood up walking to the kitchen and grabbing a cup of water, I downed it so quick i almost started choking. Boom. there was the same knock from this morning. I got chills completely up and down my back as I tiptoed over the door. Wiping my face and somewhat trying to tame my hair I opened the door slowly only it wasn't the man from this morning. The man that stood before me was smaller, less muscular, pale skin and a sharp jawline. I bit the edge of my lip stepping back before I gained the courage to let out a small squeak “where is she?” the man stared at me for a second before he parted his pink lips and said in a deeper tone than expected “that's why I'm here, to help you get her back but I need you to come with me” I stepped back again deciding whether I should trust this man or not but I knew he was my only hope. I turned and grabbed a sweater before coming back, I gave him a small nod before walking out of the apartment that once was so peaceful to me.
We took the elevator down to the bottom floor it was complete silence. Once we got off I treaded close behind him making sure not to get behind. We walked up to a dark SUV he opened the door to let me in, I looked at him hesitantly before sliding into the cool black seats. We sat in silence for what seemed like forever till I finally broke it. “Where is she and how do you expect to help? Who are you?” the man looked at me and spoke sternly “I'm luke, I work for mahachi. Were an elite group trying to put the man who had his buffoon take your girl this morning at rest. Was she in any danger before? Did she get caught up in gangs? Drugs?” I looked at him in complete disbelief the breath halting between my lips. I stared at him for a long time till I heard myself croak “ no she wasn't. Everything was fine. She went to work and came home.” luke looked at me with a smirk on his face “or so you thought.” I sat back in my seat staring at him breathlessly not knowing what to say. I stared out the window the entire car ride watching kids laugh and giggle, woman walking with bags on their arms, and men watching with big eyes. How could it be that their lives are so serene and mine is this. They had no idea what was going on in the very town they lived in.
