"Mum the train is almost here!" My little brother Damon yells looking down the track.
"Get away from there Damon!" My mum scolds. I look up at her and give a small smile and she sighs. I'm not going to lie, I'm extremely nervous for the first year at Hogwarts. I've never been away from my family for long periods of time.
"Well sweetheart what house do you hope to be put in?" My dad asks standing beside my mum. I stand there and think for a while, then I just shrug my shoulders.
"Hufflepuff doesn't seem to be too bad." I tell me dad. Both of my parents look slightly displeased when I say and I know it's only because they were both Slytherins and now I am supposed to be a Slytherin. I looked down at the ground. Of course I didn't please them, they wanted their two children to both be proud Slytherins.
"Give me a hug sweetheart. The train is boarding." Mum says breaking the silence. I look up and wrap my arms tightly around her waist.
"I'll miss you mum." I say holding back tears.
"I'll miss you too Laura." She lets go and she grabs my shoulders as I stand in front of her. She takes lets out a deep breath and I do the same.
"Remember to behave and try to make friends okay?" She says and I nod my head. Staying silent due to the lump in my throat.
"I love you so much and remember to write me when you get settled in." She says giving me another hug.
"I love you too mum." I say when she lets go. I look to my father and give him a tight hug.
"I'll miss you dad." I say and he smiles and nods his head. I smile and grab my things to board the train. I pick an empty car and sit by the window looking out the opposite side of my family. I knew that if I watched them fade away I would cry, and there is no way I would cry in front of random people. I grab a notebook and begin to draw something random. I sat there for a long time humming a tune, doodling around.
"Can I sit here? Every where else is full." I hear someone say and I look up to see a tall boy with brown hair at the doorway. He was wearing plain pants and a white collared button up shirt. He had a book bag that went across one shoulder.
"Uh yeah sure." I say in a small voice, adding a smile to seem nicer. He smiles back and puts his luggage up, before grabbing a seat opposite of me. He holds a hand out to me and I shake it.
"Remus, Remus Lupin." He introduces himself.
"Laura, Laura Anderson." I tell him with a smile. He gets a book out of his book bag. I take a look at the cover and see "The poetry of Robert Frost". I smile and go back to drawing.
"What was that about?" Remus asks looking at me. I look at him with an eyebrow raised.
"You looked at my book and smiled, why? Do you not like Robert Frost?" He asks. I made an "oh" shape with my mouth and set aside my drawing.
Make friends this year.
My mother's words ring in my head. I look at Remus and I see he's waiting for my answer.
"I love Robert Frost. He's my favorite poet, that's why I smiled." I say, making eye contact with him and we share a smile. Suddenly a boy runs into the car, throws his luggage on the rack and sits next to me.
"I'm sorry to just barge in here but I had to get away from my parents before I lost it. The names Sirius Black, you two?" He asks looking between me and Remus.
"Remus Lupin." He says shaking Sirius' hand. Sirius smiles and looks to me.
"Laura Anderson." I say shaking his hand. I take a look at him and realize that he must have money because of the way he held himself. He sat back like as though he owned the place, I know this simply because of my father.
