Day 1: Where I Let You Go
It was finally here.
After months of waiting after hearing the news, it was finally here. The Korean Festival. My sisters and I went to one last year in the same place too but this time, I could feel it was going to be different. That's probably because a famous Taekwondo group from Korea will be coming to performㅡFighting Pandas.
I've known Fighting Pandas ever since I was in Grade 7. Two years later, who would have imagined that they were coming to my country to perform? I simply couldn't contain my feels and neither did my sisters, I knew that.
Yesterday, my sisters and I did our best to convince our dad into bringing us to Timesquare for the event. It succeed, luckily, and right now, my sisters and I simply couldn't stop talking and enjoying the festival.
They played K-pop songs and my sisters and I sang along happily. We ate Korean food sold there and it was the first time I've ever ate tteokbokki. It was really good and chewy, far from my expectations. But I meant that in a good way.
We tried hanbok (Korean traditional clothing), just like we did last year and took even more pictures compared to last year. This time, even my youngest sister got to try hanbok. Last year, she wasn't able to and I couldn't remember why. I think it was because they didn't have one in her size.
Unfortunately, my sisters and I didn't get to join a quiz and answer it. Because, apparently, my dad wanted to drag my sister to buy pens because she didn't have any. My sister, Xin Er, told my dad we could do it later but my dad insisted on buying it first.
So that's why we're stuck inside a store trying to buy pens.
"I can't wait to see Fighting Pandas!" Xin Ni, the second youngest, said, smiling widely.
I was smiling, too. I wasn't sure who was coming, but I knew Lee Junyeong was, thanks to my friend. I didn't know how people knew who were coming, but that was creepy. Other guy members were coming too but I wasn't exactly sure who they were.
After my sister was done buying her pens, we got back to where the festival was and continued enjoying. We sat on seats in front and saw a man setting up something on stage. When I checked the scheduled, I found out it was an sand art show. It was the same ahjusshi from last year, I just knew it. Admittedly, he was really cute looking. Oh, wait, we say that about every Korean person we see.
The sand art began and I was only left in awe all throughout it. But at the same time, I couldn't stop thinking about Fighting Pandas. I wondered where they were now. My sisters and I made guesses to where they were staying now.
The hotel in this shopping complex? Another hotel in this country? If they were staying in the hotel here, were they resting right now in their room? I was curious about a lot of things regarding Fighting Pandas. Would I have a K-Drama moment with one of them, like the way I always pictured it in my head? Most likely not, but why does my mind keep believing in it?
