My hair wipped my face, the cold air bit at my skin as I got closer and closer to thhe concrete side walk below. 'You're so selfish.' I hear her voice in my head. And...she laughed. An eery, jarring laugh. As I came closer to my death, everything became clear. Then a wave of nothingness washed over me. Nothing.

I woke up panting, a thick layer of sweat, covering me like a blanket. At least I didn't scream. I thought. Shoving the sheet off my sweaty body, I swung my legs over my bed and stood on the cold floorboards. I slowly crept to the door with her voice ringing in my ears. i walked silently down the hall to where Eden slept. i creaked open the door to find him reading with the lamp on low. "Another nightmare?" he asked when I stepped in. "Yeah," I whispered. He moved over letting me lay next to him. "It's been getting better, hasn't it? I mean, I haven't woken up from your screaming for three whole days." I nodded at him, not really processing what he was saying. "I guess, but the voice also said that the less I scream the closer someone's death comes," I say, my voice shaking. "Have you figured out who owns the voice yet?"
"No," I whisper, "She says she will tell me the day I die." That's when hot fresh tears start pouring down my face. "Come here," Eden whispers. I move closer and roll up into a ball. "You won't die for years, trust me." If only I could. I smiled, reassuring my brother that I was OK.
