First Night

I woke up abruptly in the bed of a worn out ruby red pick up truck. My vision blurred still trying to figure out where i was exactly. I felt the rough texture of the bed liner of the truck then i went to roll around and i realized i couldn't move and i felt the old twiny rope securing my legs to the tail gate of the truck that were fastened in place with a few knots and the rope wrapped around the tail gate of the truck.  I felt the anxiety and terror of not knowing where i was building up as fast as a roller coaster flying off the rails at an amusement park. My breathing began to rain down harder and faster, the hot breaths dissipating against my cold skin slowly warming me in this cold heartless night.

                       . . . . . . .

I walked into the diner in my heavy plaid red long sleeve shirt, worn out Levis jeans with a brown ushanka on top of my head. I turned my head to look out the window to see my worn out ruby red silverado staring back at me. I pated my pocket to feel the 5 inch razer sharp flip blade in my pocket and i stuck my hand into my left pocket to feel the holster of my concealed gun. I watched as the snow feel onto the ground piling up on the side walks and the hood of my recently parked silverado. I slowly shuffled to the seat in the far left corner of the diner, shoes squeaking against the white tiled floor. I sat into the booth seat only to be greeted by barbra the waitress that was a bit on the older side she wore the classic white and red uniform with a little pin saying her name, she held the pad she took all the orders of many different kinds of people living throughout this small town,
"hey Benny what can i get ya tonight"
Barbra said optimistically.
"I'm thinking just a cup of coffee and a few eggs" i responded surprisingly quickly.
"eggs this late at night again" Barbra said a bit jokingly.
I laughed and said, "yep its the usual now"
Barbra gave a bit of a laugh and disappeared behind the counter. I sat for a bit with my hand twisting the flip blade handel in my pocket.  I looked around the room at the different booths and the pattern of the white and red tiled floor until i caught the eyes of a hooded figure close to the dark window filled up with frost spreading from the corners of the Windows all seeming to point towards the hooded head of the man.  He looked fit from what i could tell he has broad shoulders and a tall masculine body.  I was unable to recognize his face because of the dim light and his hood but i knew he was gazing straight at me and instead of challenging him i decided to play it off and look some where else. Finally the food got to the table and barbra went to tend another customer.  I glanced up at the hooded figure in the corner of the booth the snow in the window behind him blurring out of vision when i saw the bottom of his face, mouth in a twisted grin, eyes covered by his hood. He mouthed the words you're next. I felt my blood pressure rise a bit and i glanced back down to the steaming hot eggs, toasted bread and the half drank cup of coffee next to the white ceramic plate, i did not dare to look up again but i let curiosity roam over me for a second and i glanced up ward towards the now empty booth of where the hooded figure was. Disappeared like thin air,  like smoke climbing up and dissipating before it reaches a ceiling. I herd no door close no foot steps. I glanced around the diner looking at peoples faces and in corners i looked out the windows at the snow falling down, now a higher pile covered the window sill. I glanced back down and i started to sip of warm coffee to keep. My nerves calm. I was siting in the booth with my half eaten eggs and toast gone, i tried to forget any of that happened and i tried to convince my self there was nothing wrong and that i misinterpreted what he mouthed out to me, part of me went against those beliefs.
