Over the next few months, Jason started opening up to me more and more, unravelling his past.

Every lunch break i would stroll over to him and he'd give me droplets of background information about his life of which i would then go back home and attempt to piece together.

I enjoyed this; it was like a jigsaw of his life and I'd been given the ultimate task of completing it. But, although he was beginning to trust me, I was terrified that at any moment he would shut me out, snatching all these pieces away again, and store them into the locked box of pain he keeps deep in his mind.

Unfortunately, being Jason's friend came at a price. People looked at me differently when I was around him - a look of confusion and sometimes disgust as I came from a rich family and most of the girls looked up to me as the popular one. People seemed unaware of what kind of person Jason really was, and stuck to judging him on his shabby clothes and aloof personality.

If these girls weren't so prejudice, they'd be all over Jason. His strong jawbone, golden eyes, and gelled up hair would seduce any girl. He makes me melt every time he flashes those white teeth at me.

Today, Wednesday, the summer breeze played with the ends of my hair as i walked over to our usual spot. The warm sun seemed to put everyone in a good mood..including Jason.

"Hey Bella!" He grinned at me, sliding his phone back in his pocket.

"Hi J, no texting people today then? Something special must have happened to you!" I teased back at him, crossing my legs next to him on the grass.

"Yes, you." He winked, suddenly grabbing my hand and intertwining it with his own. This completely took me by surprise - he's never shown me affection like this before.

"Aw you're cute," i replied smoothly, desperately trying to show that his hand in mine wasn't a big deal. He blushed back at me, smoothing down his hair with his other hand, the way he does when he's nervous. He was pushing a stone around with his shoe, clenching his jaw as he stared down.

"Bella," he couldn't look me in the eyes, "do you think some time we could maybe go on a date or something?"

I gasped. I had no idea he thought of me in that way...i mean the hand holding was a clear sign...but I'm so oblivious to boys hitting on me its actually embarrassing. Anyway, no ones ever seen Jason with a girl, some people think he's gay!

He cleared his throat, breaking my thoughts, and realising i hadn't said anything for a good minute or two, I hurriedly nodded back. A visible wave of relief washed over him and he leaned over and kissed me on my cheek, grabbing his skateboard and walking back to school.

May I just say that around now, even though i am telling you this oh so calmly, i was grinning from ear to ear, replaying that moment over and over in my mind.

After a few minutes had gone, I gathered myself together, stood up, and headed back. Only then did i realised that Saphy was sitting at her table, staring at me, her jaw dropped. She must have seen the whole thing!

"No way..." Was all she had managed to say to me as I packed my bag.

"Way!" I winked at her, and we set off in the direction of our next class, filling her in with all the details.
