Chapter 1: New Life

I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm. I reached over lazily to turn it off, then smuggled back down into my sheet. I heard my mom say "Leana, get up we are going to the airport today."OMG! I totally forgot. We are moving to California. Are they kidding me all the way from New Hamshire to flipping California .This is frigging amazing! We are finally getting out of this crappy house. I mean we have a nice house just bad memories. My dad got arre- "Leana, hurry up or we're gonna be late." my mom interrupted my thoughts. It's a good thing to. It's best you don't know yet. I got up and took a quick shower. After drying myself, I unzipped my suitcase. I totally forgot to put clothes out last night. Sometimes I'm such a numbskull. After staring in the suitcase, I decided on black skinny jeans, a grey v-necked plain T-shirt and black windbreaker with my favourite pair of black boots. I kinda have a thing for black. Don't judge me. Anyway,  my mom is basically screaming her head off by the time I got downstairs. "Okay, okay mom I'm here." I looked in the kitchen where she usually is, she was not there. I looked in almost every room in the house. By now, I'm basically freaking out until it hit me. I face palmed myself. I looked in her bedroom and saw her still packing her suitcase. WTH. She was the one freaking out about being late and she is still packing. I love my mom to bits but sometimes she can be such a hypocrite. "Hi mom, I see you are still packing." I said with a smirk on my face, leaning on the doorway. She spun around startled. "Hey Hon, I was just putting some things in last minute."she said awkwardly. "Huh-uh, sure." I said turning around. She finished packing and by time the cab was here. We went outside and I locked the door. I said inside my head to the house "See ya never. I won't miss you." I got into the cab next to my mom. As I closed the door the taxi driver drove away. I looked outside at the houses and trees as we zoomed by. I am going to miss my friends but I am more than happy to get out of this place. We reached the airport and the taxi driver unloaded our luggage and my mom paid him. He looked at it disappointedly and said "Madame, you forgot to include the um packing and unpacking fee." I rolled my eyes at him. Robbing an innocent lady, he doesn't even have shame of doing. After the taxi driver tricked my mom out of twenty buck, he drove away. Man, that guy is a cheater and my mom is too nice to notice. We checked in and went to the lobby by our gate. So many people were going to California. I bet I'm going to love it there. I checked some pictures online and it seems like a pretty cool place. Our gate called the group number we were in and we got up and went in the line. When it was our turn, my mom  gave the flight attendent our passports. She gave them back to us with a warm smile. "Enjoy your trip." she said, the smile still plastered on her face. "Thanks." we both said at the same time. We boarded the plane and got into our seats. I looked out the plane and the wings. Thinking who wonderful it will be to live in Alabama. My mom must have seen me daydreaming. "Honey, what are you thinking about?" she asked snapping me out of my daydream. "Nothing really." I half-lied. She seemed to believe me and went back to her book. The plane took off and we were in the sky. I stared out the window looking at clouds. I started to dose off.

I felt someone gently shaking me. I woke to find my mom unbuckling her seatbelt. "We're here." she said. I looked outside and sure enough we were in Alabama. I got up and stretched, forgetting that the overhead bins were above. I hit by head so hard. I sat back down, trying to get back my posture. My mom rushed to my side and put her hand on the place I hit. I flinched when she did that. "Sorry. Are you okay?" she asked. "I will be." I  said. After a while, I got up and got my carry on which my mom took out for me. Anyway, we got off the plane and passed customs and immigration. We hailed a cab and went to our house. Our house was bigger than I expected and had a huge garden. My mom paid the cab driver and the driver gave her back ten dollars saying it was too much and wishing her a happy day. Now that is what you call an honest cab driver unlike back home. I unlocked the door, grabbed some luggage and went inside. Inside was beautiful and huge. When I say huge, I mean huge. I put down my luggage and decided to take a walk down the neighborhood. I asked my mom and she said yes but to be home by 6pm. I rolled my eyes at that she was so protective for me but I don't blame her. I started walking along the pathway. I heard that the people here are stuck up rich persons who fan with money and dress like whores but looking at them on their porch, they seem like modest people. Suddenly the sky began to get dark and the rain started to fall. I ran back to my house when i bumped into a rather attractive boy but did not stop until i heard him say "You unmannerly brat." That's when i flippped him the"bird".
