This was originally going to be a full length story, but I couldn't find the time for it and I wasn't exactly sure what I really wanted to do with it, so anyway, here's this.
It's Christmas Eve in Greenwich Village, New York and I have nobody to spend it with. I decided to go on a walk and explore the city. I only just recently moved here. I came from Texas. My parents died when I was 7, 11 years ago. In the summer, I decided to pack my bags and move to New York, alone. I could go home for the holidays, but I wanted to spend the time here and get to know the city better.
As I was walking, I came across a bakery. "Topanga's...hmm" I walked inside it was a cozy place so I ordered a hot chocolate and sat down on the couch. After a while of sitting and being on my phone, I noticed a boy walk in. He was extremely handsome. I couldn't help but smile as I looked at him. He came in with a book, ordered, and sat at the couch across from me.
After a while of him reading, he reached over for his drink on the table and his book dropped on the floor near my foot. I took this as an opportunity to talk to him. I picked it up and sat down next to him. "Here." He smiled. "I know this may seem a little weird, but I couldn't help but notice how handsome you are." He chuckled and stared at me, smiling. "What's your name? I'm Lucas."
He got out his phone and showed me his name, rather than saying it. "Farkle, eh?" He nodded. "That's a very interesting name." he nodded once more and typed something into his phone. 'My last name is Minkus. I don't know what my parents were thinking.' He chuckled. I stared at him, a bit confused. "You don't speak?" The boy shook his head and typed into his phone again. 'I haven't said a word since I was 7.' "Wow. How old are you now?" '17. I go to Abigail Adams High School.'
I was shocked. How had I never seen him before? "Wow so do I! That's strange I've never seen you before. You're a senior, right?" He nodded. 'I guess I just don't stick out that much?' "Strange. I noticed you immediately." He blushed. "So what's a boy like you doing all alone on Christmas Eve?" He shrugged 'Things are complicated at my house. And what about you? Why are you alone?' I frowned. "Oh that sucks. I'm sorry. And well uh I just moved here. I lived in Texas and I don't have any family here." He nodded. 'Well I'm sorry about that..maybe you would like to hang out with me today?' He bit his lip as he looked up at me. I smiled. "That would be great. Thank you."
We talked at Topanga's for a long while. We finally left and decided to explore the city. Stopping at Christmas shops and walking under the moonlight. While the conversation was mostly one sided, we still talked a lot from store to store. After a while of walking, I noticed just how close we were. Farkle's hand was brushing against my hand. I bit my lip and lightly grabbed his hand. He smiled. We talked some more and at the end of the night, we went to my place.
"I had a great time with you tonight." He smiled. 'Yeah. Me too. I hope we can do this again sometime.' We stood there, smiling at each other for a minute and then he kissed me on the cheek. I smiled. 'Goodnight, Lucas.' He waved and started to walk away. "Goodnight, Farkle!" I waved until he was out of sight and went inside my apartment
