Chapter 2

Come in Ms.Rose

As I heard these words, I got up and went with the nurse. Tyler stood up, but I told him to wait out here, that I wanted to do it alone. He opened his mouth to protest, but decided on not and just nodded. I walked to the room that I was assigned.

"Dr. Stevens will be with you in a few minutes."

The nurse smiled an winning smile, then left without another word being said between the two of us. I waited in the small, white painted room for what seemed like hours, until the doctor finally came.

He was an average looking man. Short hair styled upwards, young looking face, and slight stubble. He was skinny, but had a bit of muscle. His white coat was a size too big for him, so he seemed shorter than what he may be. His eyes were almost grey, swirling with years of knowledge, and were hidden behind thin framed glasses.

"Hello Kate, I'm Dr. Stevens. Are you ready?"

I nodded, signifying that I was. He smiled, then gave me a hospital gown to put on. He then closed the door as he stepped out for me to change. After I changed, I looked into the full body mirror that they had. I saw a tall, slightly muscled girl. She has green eyes with blue specs in them. Her hair is dirty blonde, and choppy, cause she tried to cut it herself without a mirror. Her button nose sits between two naturally rosy cheeks. Her fingernails are short, from being bitten for many years. She has cuts and bruises all over her arms and legs from all the years of softball. I guess people would call her beautiful, but I just see myself. I shrug and head to the MRI room. When I got there, the technician told me to lie on the platform, and they would start soon.

They came back and told me to close my eyes and take a deep breath when I'm told. I closed my eyes and the platform started to move.

"Take a deep breath sweety.", the technician said

After the MRI, I was lead back to the white room. I changed back into my clothes. I walked out to check out of the hospital.

"We'll call you when the results come in.", the lady smiled.

"Okay, thank you."

I walked out with Tyler. Maybe we could still make a movie or two.

"How'd it go?"

"I don't know, I guess it was fine. They just scanned my body. I'll get the results in about a week."

He nodded.

"Still wanna try to make a movie."

His face light up like a little kid.

"Oh boy, oh boy! Let's go!"

I laughed as he pulled my along.

--Another Magical Time Skip--

I was talking by the pool with Yasmin, when Tyler snuck up behind us and pushed us into the water.

"TYLER JONES YOU'RE SO DEAD!"

He was laughing hard, then suddenly stopped when he saw me running towards him with a flip flop. He turned on his heels quick and ran into the house.

As I ran by my room, I saw my phone was ringing. Tyler looked at me, as he heard it too.

"Truce?", he said as he shrugged.

"Fine.", I mumbled.

I went into my room and Tyler followed. I picked up my phone.

"It's the hospital."

"It's okay Cat, the results will be clear."

(K: Kate and N: Nurse)

K: Hello?

N: Hello ma'am. Are you in a private room?

I looked at Tyler.

K: Yes I am.

N: I'm so sorry ma'am, but you're results came back.

K: Why is that a bad thing?

N: Ms.Rose, you tested positive for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma

K: What?

N: Ma'am, you have cancer...

K: Oh. Okay, thank you for calling.

N: If you could come in on Monday so we could discuss treatment option, that would be great.

K: That should be no problem.

N:Thank you ma'am.

K: Good-bye

N: Good-bye ma'am.

I hung up the phone. I turned to Tyler, who was on the ground playing with Puffles, my cat.

"Tyler.", I said with a small voice.

"Cat what's wrong? What happened."

"I.....I.....I have....", I couldn't finish my sentence, because I burst into tears.

I felt Tyler hold me as I cried. I lost it. I couldn't believe.

That's when I lost all hope.
