Argumentative essay on the feudal era
Grade: B+
Note~I did write this in the 7th grade so there will be issues...
What was the most important class in the Japanese feudal system? The samurai were trained professional warriors that worked under a Daimyo or Shogun. They protected the Daimyo and his land from enemies. Samurai were the most important class in Japanese feudal society because they protected Japan from various enemies.
A reason that the samurai were so important to Japanese feudal society because they served a shogun who was a military ruler. For example under a shogun samurai fought wars for the good of Japan. They fought against Japanese rebels and invaders, this helped Japanese society stay aloft. Another example is that when samurai were called on to fight they were expected to fight honorably and loyalty. This shows their importance because of this they were highly respected and became central to Japanese society.
While Bushido or the code of samurai rules shows how important samurai were to the Japanese feudal society. Another reason why samurai were so important to Japanese feudal society was because they followed the rules of Bushido. Because they followed the strict rules of Bushido they were highly admired. This also helped as the samurai were good role-models. Due to the honor and loyalty of the of their image even after "the samurai class disappeared from Japanese society at the end of the 1800's the samurai image and values still live on." This shows how much the samurai were respected in Japan back then and still are now. This reveals the importance of the samurai to Japanese feudal society however, other may argue that the peasants or the emperor are more important.
In contrast others may argue that the emperor or the peasants are more critical to the upholding of Japanese feudal society. One reason they may argue is that the emperor is more important because he/she helped keep order. While the emperor was and is just a figurehead that has and had no real power. Another argument that the opposition poses is without Peasants there would be no one to pay tax or farm. Without the Samurai to defend Japan there would be no one to up hold any order and the entire society would crumble. While there are some arguments to suggest that the emperor and peasants are the backbone of Japanese feudalism, the evidence supports the notion that the samurai are the most important class.
As noted the samurai were vital to Japanese feudalism because they were the ones who kept order and protected Japan. Not only were the samurai important socially, but they were important economically. They help sustain order in the society. This is why the samurai were the most important class in the Japanese feudalism.
