It was a new beginning, for all of them.
Minah woke up to the sun shining through her window, blinding her for a short moment. She gets up out of bed and reached over to her nightstand and grabbed a small silver pocket watch. The girl opened the watch and saw the time. "Crap! It's ten o'clock I'm late!" She screamed getting dressed and looking in the mirror.
Minah brushed her dark chestnut hair, and pulled it back into a french braid before going down the stairs of her small cottage, to meet her father. "I am so sorry Dad! I overslept!" Minah sat at the table as her father placed a cold plate of food in front of her.
Her father began wash dishes in a water basin. "Today is an important day, I'd think you would wake up on time for once." He said continuing to wash the dirty dishes.
Minah quickly finished her cold food and walked over to the door.
As she opened the door, she was tackled to the ground by a strange figure. That strange figure was her best friend Gwendolyn. She was as tall as Minah but a little more built, had dark skin, and brown eyes. Contrary to Minah's which were purple.
"Come on, we're gonna be late!" She pulled Minah out of the door and down the dirt street of her town. As she was being pulled, she waved to her neighbors and friends she would soon leave behind.
Today was the day she, and Gwendolyn were going to become warriors. As custom they had to leave their village, and travel to find greatness. 'I'm so nervous! I don't know if I'm ready to leave yet!' Minah thought worried.
Before Minah could pull away and turn around, they were already at the school. The elders were already seated in a line, and the ceremony had started. " Minah Harmoni, and Gwendolyn Magora." Minah flinched at the eldests tone.
"You two are the only people to graduate to warrior status in years. We are happy to pronounce you brave girls warriors."
They bowed in respect and received their weapons. Minah received a set of twin daggers with an amethyst on the ends, and Gwendolyn received a silver staff. They rose from the ground and shared similar grins of excitement. "Thank you elders!" They shouted simultaneously.
Before they could walk away, one of the elders shouted. "You have the rest of the day to spend here, but tomorrow morning you must leave."
They both bowed before walking away, a little less excited. "Hey! Why so down?" A familiar face asked smiling like an idiot.
