Shattered Shadows #2

SAMANTHA'S POV

The only sound heard was our paws hitting the leaf covered ground and me and Cadence's quiet breathing, we were a bit out of breath from the run and were now heading back to the pack house again, but large black shadows soon invaded the path in front of us. Yellow glowing eyes... Like they could be staring straight through your soul, shooting daggers through it more like it.

Hissing and growling they walked closer, but stopped about 5 feet away, why? They seemed scared...but not of us...at least I don't think so. "Why don't you go pick on someone your own size?" A husky voice boomed from behind us, I froze in my tracks- my breath hitching, I was afraid to turn around but I didn't want to look up. So instead I stared down at the Snow White paws under me. "Well? Scat!" The voice said a bit more frustrated this time.

The shadows quickly ran off, all I could hear were the approaching sounds of paw steps. Which belonged to the person who just saved my ass. But when he got close all I could smell was the scent of pine and mint...no, no no no no no no no no no and a million more no's I did NOT ask for my mate so soon! "Thanks..." I said under my breath as I turned around.

Only to come face to face with a jet black wolf, a tall one at that. "Hello to you to" he laughed a bit looking at me, his eyes were a very bright Aqua, and his fur was completely black. "Oh I'm sorry, hello" I said as I shook my head but when I looked down at him he now seemed to be in the same trance I was just a moment ago, but he actually spoke. "Mate..." He said in more of a soft tone.

"Ahem!" Cadence said as she gave my 'mate' eww I don't ever want to say that again- the 'Can you not make a scene and like back off?' Face, the face she gives anyone who she doesn't know. "Oh I'm so sorry did I say that out loud? Oh and sorry for my rude manners, I'm Ezra, Ezra Black" he said as he shook his fur, "weird how I even have black fur eh?" He said to himself more like it.

I looked at him weirdly, I wasn't used to the whole 'he's my mate and I can't really deny it' but maybe this was all a cruel dream? Well I'm not pinching myself because that's impossible without actual fingers, "hello?" Ezra said as he waved a paw in front of my face, "I'm sorry, I'm just- not really...how do I even begin? This is all quite new to me" Ezra shook his head, then he gave Cadence the 'well how about making it LESS awkward?' Look.

"Well her name is Samantha she is 17 years old, her birthday is two days away and she is one of the top pupils the alpha aka her father" Cadence blurted out with a sigh, way to go now she told him all my info. "Thank you Cadence, your a huge help" (not the sarcasm) I hissed as I looked over to her, yes all of it was true b- my thoughts were it off as Ezra spoke "well owe about that, my birthday was just yesterday, and now
I'm 18 so I guess that counts as the same age?" He laughed a bit as he stared down T me with his Aqua eyes.

"Yea...I guess" I flashed him a small smile before turning around, "wait- your from a pack right?" He said as he walked up beside me, leaving Cadence to hopelessly follow behind us. "The Everfree pack yes, we watch over Everfree forest, why do you ask?" He stopped in his tracks, "like as in THE Everfree pack? The one that defeated the Shattered shadows years and years and years ago??" He sounded like he was in total disbelief, but yes that was also true. "Yes, but as you said that was a very long time ago" he said as I looked at him with cold eyes.

"Yes it was her ancestors as well, but yes it WAS a long time ago" cadence said as she squeezed in between us, classic Cadence always needing to brag..."Cadence I think that's enough" I said sternly as I stepped on her paw, "OU-" she held her breath as she formed a weak smile, "yup ok I'm just gonna- bye" she said as she started walking ahead more.

"Sorry about her, she's a bit nervous about having new people around her so she started bragging and stuff" I said apologetically as I looked over at Ezra, maybe he wasn't all to bad after all, he was actually very nice. "It's fine, all of us were like that at one point" she chuckled a bit as the edge of the forest came into view, I could see some of the pack guards patrolling the edge.

"Wait- are you actually planning to walk into pack territory? Don't you have your own pack?" I said as I stopped him and backed him up a bit. "Well can't I just hang with you? I'm not due home for a few weeks so I got time" he chuckled as he flashed me a smile, I was starting to warm up to him- no stop I don't like him! Well I'm not so 'I'm not going to ever fall for a stupid man EVER' kind of girl anymore am I?

"Yea why not but if you do ANYTHING to bother ANYONE you will be gone, Kay?" I said sternly, because if he did my father would literally kill him, straight up. "I promise, I'm a pupil of an alpha too, I may not seem like a serious type but I'm not going to mess anything up" he gave me a heart wrenching smile that could have made me melt.

"Fine come on" I said as I started walking towards the exit again, the sun now shone right over the camp, a chorus of 'hellos' and 'good morning Sam' echoed through the air as we walked through, I answered back with a smile and a good or thank you back, "ok so I actually need to go shift so..wait- so do you...take the barn, it's empty" I said as I pointed towards the abandoned barn.

Ezra nodded as I started walking to the deck, before a stepped onto it I shifted back to human form, it hurts a bit in the beginning but after its just a spand of numb feeling, "So what about him? What are we gonna do with him?" Cadence appeared in front of me also in human form, "I have no clue, but maybe my father would want to meet him- kind worried though" I choked out as I looked up at her, we still had on the shifting clothes.

"SAMANTHA JADE ADAMS" My father yelled sternly from behind me, Ezra following close behind him, Ezra was tall with chocolate brown hair, and nice blue eyes- kind of like his wolf (ok that sounded stupid I apologize) "WHO IS THIS?" Ok well no luck for the 'hey yea I don't know him at all, do you? No? Ok' thing, "since I'm not going to lie- well you see dad he is my-" I was cut off by my father facing Ezra with a now stone cold glare "so your her mate...well I want to see a lot of hard work from you if you ever want to earn my daughters love you hear me? Wait don't you have your own pack?"

My father stopped confusedly, his voice lighting up a bit. "Yes actually mister. Adams, but you see...they actually wanted me gone for a while due to the face I needed to find my mate, and they aren't really seeing be back for a few weeks give or take" Ezra hung his head down a bit, I could feel he was sad, "Yes I see...,well you may happily stay for as long as you need, but you'll be in a different room understand?" Me and Ezra just looked at each other then burst out laughing,

my father looked even more confused now more than ever, "why are you guys laughing?" I looked up at him once more "because we only met like 45 minutes ago and seriously dad you need to calm down" my father just scratched his neck, but next is my mother...how's she gonna react? I know she's gonna be happy but I don't want to killing Ezra with a hug.

"Thank you mister. Adams I will find a way to repay you" my dad just chuckled "call me James and you'll be repaying me by treating my daughter right understand?" I of course just stood there with a cold glare towards my father, I'm planning on walking away when Ezra looks over at me with a crooked smile, "are you coming or what? I'm the one that knows what room your in" he quickly nodded and ran after me.

As soon as me and Ezra reached the room door I looked back at him, I forgot he didn't have anything,  "I'm going to look through some of the closets downstairs, make yourself at home ok? Oh and here are the keys" I handed Ezra his room keys and he nodded. I started walking towards the stairs, but before I reached them My mother was there, staring at me with eyes that read 'you found him and I want to meet him right now' and the face that matches it.

"Before you meet him can you find him some clothes? I'll get him a few shifting outfits but he needs regular clothes" my mother sighed and went down stairs and into the next room, well that will hold her for a while but my mom is the best person to pick outfits. When I turned around to start walking to check on Ezra I heard Cadence's voice "Sam, Beta Carlos wanted me to tell you that he's proud of you"

Cadence seemed annoyed but I knew why, she was still getting used to the fact I got my mate before her. But I knew she was happy for me, Cadence is just stubborn and won't admit things like that. "I'll be sure to go see beta Carlos and thank him Cadence" I told her as she smiled and walked off.

God what am I going to do with her?

I guess I'll just have to see.

Yea I know sucky way of ending a chapter but I was losing ideas, hey I held it out this long be proud of me! Anyways don't be a silent reader and comment! Tell me what you thought of this chapter and what you want to happen next?
