The whole day passed by in a blur and before I knew it, I was sitting outside in the hot humid air with Monica and Stacy. We had chosen a spot under a huge oak so we were in the shade safe from the sun.

“So you promise to write everyday about everything going on over there?” Stacy asked pushing her sun glasses up in her blond hair to look at me sternly.

“I’ll write as often as I can Stace, I’ll even call you on Viber and Skype whenever I get the chance” I promised and looked over at Monica slinging her auburn curly hair over her shoulder. “Same goes for you Mon, I promise to keep you guys updated”

“Will you be seeing Jeremy over there?” Monica asked turning over to lay on her stomach with her hands folded under her chin staring at me expectantly, Stacy and Monica are the only ones who know how I really feel about Jeremy, Monica is convinced we will end up together like some romantic movie she once saw, ‘it’s always the best friend Eve’ she keeps saying, Stacy on the other hand keeps urging me to move on, says it’s not healthy to dwell on things that’ll never happen.

“He’ll be with his family and I’ll be with mine, maybe we’ll spend a day or two together” I answered her looking away and shrugging nonchalantly.

“Oh are you going to that romantic place again, that amusement thing in Copenhagen” She looked puzzled trying to remember the name, this was how she always was, she was bad at names in general, it was disaster when she had to remember Danish things.

“Tivoli,” I informed her “and no I don’t think so, we haven’t really discussed it” I looked around trying to find a way to change the subject just as Jeremy’s car pulled up in the spot in front of our tree.

“Speak of the devil.” Monica said jumping up quickly fixing her clothes and putting her sun glasses back down over her eyes. I looked up at her lazily getting up too and reaching my hand down to help Stacy up too, she took it and got up, then immediately pulling me into a huge hug, almost choking me, no scratch that there was no almost.

“Can’t. Breathe” I managed to choke out and she let go looking at me with sad eyes.

“I’m gonna miss you so much promise me to text me as often as you can” I nodded and she pulled me in for another hug this one more gentle, right before she pulled away she whispered “Just forget about him this summer, go for William” as she pulled away she gave me the ‘this is final I know what’s best for you look’ and I just nodded in response.

When she stepped away I was nearly knocked off my feet as Monica jumped in my arms hugging me tight too.

“I’m gonna miss you so much Eve, but I know how happy Denmark makes you so I’m gonna be a good little friend and let you leave” She stepped back smiling and they both waved as I picked up my bag and made my way over to a grinning Jeremy.

As I reached his car he pulled me into a hug, crashing me against his chest and lifting me off the ground spinning us both around.

“What the hell Jer?” I mumbled against his chest.

“I was feeling left out now shut up and hug me back Lynn”

I chuckled and wrapped my arms around his neck, I couldn’t help it, when it came to Jeremy I just did whatever he asked me to, that has gotten me in a lot of trouble through the years but I’ve always had the time of my life, and I’ve always felt safe with him.

When he put me back on my feet he picked up my bag, which I had dropped when he grabbed me, and threw it on the backseat of his car and got in the drivers seat and I got in too.

He turned to flash me a smile and I couldn’t help but smile back, he got this cute little wrinkle by the side of his mouth when he smiled, not a dimple but a tiny wrinkle.
