[Third Person Pov | Stanford University | Present day]

"Sam, get a move on would ya?! We were supposed to be there like, fifteen minutes ago." Jessica called out as she put on her other earring. "Sam, are you coming?"

Sam's head popped out of the doorway, "Do I have to come?"

"Yes!" Jessica smiled, a laugh in her voice. "It'll be fun."

Sam smiled, walking into the room while looking at his girlfriend who was clad in a short, sparkly nurses outfit. Jessica walked towards him with a smile, her eye brow raising when she saw his attire, "And where's your costume?"

Sam let out a breath of air mixed with some sort of laugh, ducking his head briefly in amusement and disbelief. "You know how I feel about Halloween." He said to her, raising his brows.

-Mini time skip-

Music played in the background of the loud party. People in skimpy outfits danced around, most of them drunk out of their minds. Sam looked down at his glass, annoyed by the loud rap music around him as well as all the people.

"So here's to Sam and his awesome ELSAT victory." Jessica smile, raising her glass. "Alright, alright it's not that big a deal." Sam sighed, honestly not really wanting to be there. He hated Halloween. People dressing up as monsters, not that he could really blame them. They didn't know about the things in the world, the things lurking in the shadows.

"He acts all humble but he scored a 174." Jessica informed. "Mmm, is that good?" Their zombified friend asked, setting down his now empty shot glass. "Scary good." Jessica snorted lightly, downing her shot.

"You are a first-round draft pick, you can go to any law school you want." Sam looked at his friend as he placed a hand on his shoulder, smirking down at the blinking Winchester. "Actually I got an interview here, Monday." Sam announced. "If it goes okay I think I've a shot at a full ride next year."

"Hey, it's gonna go great." Jessica assured, nodding to Sam. Sam took in a breath of air, giving a small smile, "It better."

"How does it feel to be the golden boy in your family?" The zombified man, who was quite obviously the third wheel, butted into the situation. "Ah, they don't know." Sam admitted. "Oh, no, I would be gloating!" He exclaimed, grinning.

"Why not?"

"'Cause we're not exactly the Brady's." Sam said, smiling. "I'm not exactly the huxtables. More shots?" He asked, looking to Jessica. "No. No." Sam shook his head. "No." Jessica agreed. Shaking his head and grinning, the friend whirled around and began making his way to the bar.

Sam shook his head, turning around. Jessica smiled at him, putting her weight on the table, "Seriously, I'm proud of you; and you're gonna knock 'em dead Monday." Jessica said sincerely.

"You're gonna get that full ride, I know it." Jessica said. "What would I do without you?" Sam sighed, smiling. "Crash and burn." Jessica smiled, pulling Sam forward and capturing him in a kiss.

-Yet another time skip-

Sam and Jessica both lay in bed asleep, the covers loosely draped over their legs. Moonlight shone through the window, illuminating their sleeping forms. They had no idea someone was about to break into the house.

Sam's eyes snapped open, his breath hitching when he heard shuffling in the next room over. Sliding out of bed quickly, he stealthily made his way into the next room to investigate the noise. His heart pounded in his chest, and he actually hoped whoever was in his house was a human and not... something else.

Peeking around the corner, Sam's eyes narrowed when he spotted an open window. Wind whistled through it, letting any cold air in the house in. Sam's attention was told away from the window and towards the kitchen when he heard a noise.
