As Anne woke up, she looked around, trying to get an idea of where she was. She could hear the faint sound of sirens in the background with the occasional sound of a man's voice. Everything was a blur. She felt a drop of water tickle her wrist and the gentle touch of a hand on her cheek. When she began to gain focus, everything started to come back to her. She remembered dancing, the music, the lights and Jeremy. Anne noticed she was on a stretcher and things suddenly became clearer. she must've passed out at the dance. Anne began to search frantically for Jeremy. He had no idea what was going on.
When Jeremy noticed that Anne had woken up he squeezed her hand.
"Thank god." he whispered to himself. He rested his hand on her hand, tears rolling down his cheek.
"A-A-Anne w-w-what happened?" Jeremy stuttered, shaken up by the whole incident. He called the paramedic over to let him know that she had woken up. The paramedic began to question her before she could tell Jeremy what she needed to.
The paramedic put his hand to her head, checking her temperature. He placed an ice pack there, trying to cool her down.
" Did you have pains in your stomach? How did you feel before you fainted?" he questioned.
Anne blinked, trying to gather enough strength to sit up. She gripped Jeremy's hand to pull herself up.
"I had a small pain in my stomach, I know I should've told someone, but it's prom, I didn't want to miss it." Anne said weakly, noticing that she had seen that same paramedic last time she had rode in the ambulance.
" Young lady, with your condition, you need to understand that it is so important you say something even had the smallest pain." the paramedic said sternly, checking her breathing.
Jeremy's eyes widened. " W-what condition?" he stammered. He knew that Anne was hiding something from him and he didn't like it. He felt tears begin to roll down his cheek as he thought of what it could be. He looked at Anne with sad eyes, waiting for her response.
" Jeremy, I-I .." Anne struggled to speak, feeling overwhelmed. This was not how she wanted Jeremy to find out. Her breathing began to grow heavy, her head swaying slightly from left to right. Tears streamed down her face before she layer back down.
" My head.." she started holding it with her left hand.
The paramedic quickly turned his attention to her. The paramedic continued to talk to her, making her focus on his voice. He managed to keep her conscience until they pulled into the hospital. She was rushed into a room and hooked up. Jeremy was forced to sit out in the waiting room. He fought the nurses, tears pouring down his face. He needed to know what was wrong with his Anne. This wasn't supposed to happen to her. He begged the nurses to tell him, but they refused claiming it was confidential.
After an hour, Anne started to feel stronger. She sat up in her bed, noticing her parents sitting in the corner. Her mom was weeping into her dad's shoulder. " Mom, I'm okay." she said quietly. Her mother rushed over to her and kissed her on the forehead.
"My baby." she said, looking her daughter up and down, checking to make sure she was comfy.
" Where's Jeremy?" Anne asked, more concerned about him than herself. Her mom took her hands into hers and sighed.
" He's still in the waiting room. I thought that he deserved to hear it from you. I' ll go get him." Her mother said softly, knowing how much Anne cared about Jeremy. She walked over to her husband taking him by the hand and pulling him out of the room, explaining what was going on, on the way out.
Within a few minutes, Jeremy was standing in the doorway with tear stained cheeks.
" Anne, what happened?" he asked, terrified. Anne took a deep breath.
" Jeremy, there's something that you should know.." Anne started.
