Ben's POV
While I sit and eat my lunch, I hear a faint hum in the next corridor. I pick up my knife and walk toward the noise.
As I approach, I see a light outline of a girl. She looks familiar, but I don't remember who she is. She comes to me, face inches from mine.
"(Y/N)?" I ask, weakly. She nods. I put my hand where her shoulder would be. My hand goes right through (Y/N) and she giggles. "Silly Ben. You were there. Remember? When I died?" Something flips inside me, like a switch.
"(Y/N), I remember. I remember... everything. I-it was terrible." I croak out a sob.  "The flare... it killed you. How are you here?"
She chuckled, "It didn't kill me Bennie. It saved me." She says all of this with a smile.
"S-saved you? From what?"
She sends me a weak smile, "From this." She disappears into thin air and a griever comes up behind me.
I can't move. My brain is telling my arms and legs to move, yet nothing happens. I feel a sharp, indescribable pain in my stomach. I've been stung.
The griever retracts its legs into its body and rolls away. I run as fast as I can to the Glade.
I hit the Glade ground with a thud. Most people see me-ignoring the fact that I am on the ground.
I run, remembering everything that was taken from me. I see a boy, that worked for W.I.C.K.E.D., in the Deadheads.
I step on a branch, breaking it. He turns to face me, "Aren't you Ben? A runner?" I clench my jaw.
My eye twitches, tears blocking my vision. "Why did you put me here?!" I scream.
"What are you saying?" He asks, perplexed. Rage begins overpowering sadness; I attack the Greenbean.
"St-stop!" He cries out. I tell myself to stop. Nothing happens; I am still choking a boy.
He pushes me off of him and runs. I run through the Deadheads after the boy, Thomas, a subject, just like me. I can't stop.
I launch myself onto the boy, tripping him. I grab his shirt collar, "Why?! Why?! Why?!" I sob and scream uncontrollably.
"Ben! Get off the Greenie!" Alby yells at me. I still don't stop. "I'm gonna count to three."
I continue, not caring the consequences. "One!" My grip loosens. "Two!" I tighten my grip, matching the old. "Three!"
He lets his arrow fly. Right into my cheek, the arrow embeds itself. I fall into darkness.
*Time-skip to next morning*
I wake up to a dull pain in my cheek. I notice I'm in the slammer. Oh. I am to be banished.
(Y/N) appears in front of me. "(Y/N), you are so beautiful." The words I speak are all true. She laughs. I love that laugh.  "Bennie, you look as good as the day I met you."
I smile, knowing I'll see her soon. Minho unlocks the small door and pulls me out. He bounds my wrists behind my head. I refuse to struggle.
"Are you happy, Ben?" Minho questions  with a raised eyebrow. I smile and nod. He looks to the floor, sadness behind his dark eyes.
Minho brings me to the doors. I am quickly surrounded by the keepers.  Alby speaks up, "Ben of the Builders, you've been sentenced to Banishment for the attempted murder of Thomas the Newbie. The Keepers have spoken, and their word ain't changing. And you ain't coming back. Ever. "
I let Minho put the collar on me. "Minho!" I whisper-yell. "Yeah?" He responds, his eyes glossed over with tears.
"I don't need the collar. I'll walk right out the doors. Please. (Y/N) is waiting for me on the other side. You know I wouldn't lie. Please, Minho." Minho walks to Alby, supposedly speaking of the collar issue.
Minho comes back to me. He nods and lets a tear fall. I do the same. "I'll miss you, MinMin."
He smiles weakly, "I'll miss you too, Benji."  The walls begin to close and I walk out, waving to the Keepers.  The doors close with a scarce thud.
I find a large rock with a serrated edge. I know that soon I will be with (Y/N). I know I will die happy.
I drive the jagged rock across my neck. Quickly, I am swallowed by the eternal darkness of death.

   ----------

I reawaken, side by side with my family, friends, and (Y/N). She sees me and smiles wider than anyone I remember.
"Bennie!" She yells, throwing herself at me. "I missed you. I've been waiting, ya know?" I laugh.
"Yeah. I know. I have missed you, too. I've missed us." I pulled out from our hug and kiss my one true memory. The one that will stay with me past heaven or hell.
