I let out a groan as I flopped my head down on my desk, rubbing my eyes softly. Grading papers for hours made your eyes hurt like a bitch, that I can guarantee you on. I glance at the clock on the far wall and groan again, this time out of relief. 4:40, time to go home.
And not a moment too soon either.
The kids were acting out of control today. They didn't listen to anything I said. It was torture.I glance over at the now half empty stack of blank detention skips, looks like I'll be needing some more if this keeps up.
I take one last breath as I feel my body beginning to relax. I was just about to collect my things when I heard a light tap at the door. It was Mr.Payne, the Gym Teacher, and my best friend. "Hey mate! Rough day?" He asks, looking over my obviously befuddled form.
"Yeah, it's okay though." I reply, grabbing my briefcase and shrugging in my coat. "You hear about the new kid?" Liam asks, helping me put away something things last minute. I shook my head, pausing. "What new kid?" I asked, following Liam out the door and to the parking lot.
"We're getting some new kid from Ireland. Apparently, this guys a real shit. His detention record is a mile long." Liam explains, huffing out the last part in annoyance.
I sighed, that's all I needed. Yet another cocky teenage boy. Didn't we have enough of them already? "Ugh, when?" I asked, stopping outside of my car and facing Liam.
"Next week sometime, I dunno." He absently replied, staring down at his phone. "Great. Well, see you tomorrow Li!" I yell, cranking up the stereo and driving off.
Whoever this kid was, this was going to be fun.
