chapter 3

My head was pounding and my knee was in pain, I didn't move I just laid there holding my head I wanted to cry but I was holding back my tears I didn't want everybody to think was soft

"Oh my gosh, I'm soo sorry I didn't mean to... is she alive?" The bright eyed boy said in a worried but questioning tone

I nodded my head which made my headache worst for me I opened my eyes for a second and the lighting just made my head sting

"Emily are you okay?" Aaron asked me I felt his hand on my shoulder

I nodded my head for some reason I couldn't talk words wouldn't leave my lips

"Let me me help you up" he pulled me up gently my head was pounding at every motion I made

I tried to get up but my knee was in a lot of pain

"I can't get up, my knee I-I can't" I said sitting on the gym floor

"Okay just put your weight on me okay, now come on" he said pulling me up off the ground

Tears came flooding out my eyes and I held onto Aaron tightly trying to block out the pain but it was too much

"I think I broke my knee" I said through tears looking at my knee

It was swollen and bruised and I couldn't get it to straighten out

"It's not broken trust me, but is definitely bruised or sprained" the bright eyed boy said

I looked up at him he had a sad expression on his face he went to say something but I cut him off

"It's fine, it's just a game of basketball it's not like you meant it" i said with a smile I wiped my tears and looked at Aaron "where's the nurses office?"

"Come on I'll take you" he said holding me closer

I never been this close to a boy before besides my brother but this wasn't my brother this was an actual boy

Me: Hey mom um, I need to come home from school ....

Mom: why?

Me: I bruised my knee that's what the nurse said

Mom: okay Im On my way

*****

"Is your mom coming?" Asked the nurse

"Yes she is" I said sitting up straight on the chair

"Okay well rest your knee up try to stay off of it and you have a minor concussion soo wear sunglasses in the sunlight you'll have headaches soo here take two of these a day and that should be all, have a nice day."  The nurse smiled and walked away

"Wow at least your first day of school was rememberable" Aaron said trying to lighten up the mood

"Yea I guess" I said sliding back down into my seat

"What's wrong" Aaron said moving closer

"Basketball season is around the corner and my knee is all messed up and I have a concussion" I said sinking more into the seat

"It's only minor and your knee is bruised it'll only be two games into the season then you'll get to play" he said putting his hand on my shoulder

My body tensed up at his touch

"You okay?" He asked

"Yea yea I'm good, my mom is here soo I'll catch you later." I said tryna get up out of my seat forgetting about my bruised knee

"Woaaah here I'll help you" he said pulling me up slowly out of the chair

"Thank you" I said holding onto him

He walked me too my mom car and we bid our goodbyes and went on our way

I moved to a new school an actual big one 🤦🏾‍♀️!!!
