I slammed the door of the rusted out old truck and started trekking towards the small two story institution in front of me.First day at school was never really a good day, no matter how many times I had done it in the past.
It was tricky really. As the ever moving kid I needed to find a group that was on the down low. Not crazy popular, but also not the greasy kids that no one wanted to sit beside in class.
You needed to be known enough that most people knew who you were, but they wouldn't really notice when you left.
For me, an ever moving girl, I didn't want to make any great friends, I just needed people to sit with at lunch to make it seem as if I was a normal person and not some loner before I packed up my things and moved again.
My hand pushed the front door of the school open, and I walked in.

"Smile!"
I lifted my lips a bit and straightened my shoulders. The camera flashed and I struggled to keep my eyes from squinting.
"Okay, just give it a minute and we should have your student ID ready.
Ring!
I glanced out the window of the front office to see students scattering out trying to make it to their first period class.
Great, now I was going to be late for my first class, probably singled out. Not that it hasn't happened before, or that I was overtly paranoid about it, but it still wasn't a great start to the day.
"Tell you what, why don't you go to your first period class and come back here at lunch, or at the end of the day to pick up your ID."
I smiled at her gratefully and quickly shot out of the door.
I looked down at my school map and located my first period class easily. It was at the beginning of the second floor row of classrooms. The stairs should be right about... bingo.
I took the steps two at a time, know I was probably lagging the other students by a bit.
It was the first door to the right and I was quick to enter the stuffy room full of students trying to find their names on the desks. I did the same, knowing the drill.
I found my name at the front row of the desks and sat down.
I set my backpack down and was just pulling out my binder when I heard a plop on the seat to the right of me.
Glancing over I saw shaggy brown hair and a dazzling smile. A flurry of butterflies erupted in my stomach and my cheeks flushed the teeniest bit.
He looked a lot hotter in the simple jeans and black T he adorned.
"You're looking a lot better," he commented as he shifted the piece of card stock paper in front of him.
I lifted my lips up in a tight smile, meeting those forest green eyes of his for a moment and then busying myself with my binder, "yeah."
"No more trouble in the woods?" He asked.
"Nope," i replied. I looked up at the clock on the wall.
When was the bell gonna ring?
"Hmm," I looked over at Eli as he settled into his seat, crossing his arms over his chest. He had nice arms.
When he noticed me looking he smiled again, sending me a wink.
I stared back at the front of the classroom. No need to get caught up with anybody, I would be gone soon anyways.
