Pfc. Mattew Johnson
As I feel the plane hit the Marine Corp base in Afghanistan all you hear is "ladies let's go and get ready for a 0930 patrol, so get everything ready and we leave in 10." Heading off the C-17 globe master we go to our station. I set up my rack and head over to get my M-4 assault rifle and a M-9 Beretta for my side arm. Over the radio I hear " infantry, infantry head to the humvees for briefing and patrol." So I started to run to the humvees and I made it just in time too they just started getting in the trucks to head out. So I hop in with Srgt. Michael Rogers and Pfc. Thomas Robinson so we all head out to patrol a mountain side. On our way up to the top of the mountain our humvees get hit with bullets and RPG's, so I hop out of the humvee and run down the hill and that was a huge mistake.
