The dawn of an old era.
The Intel dossier was from a credible source from the inside. A detachment of a "few" light walkers will be escorted with three clan Hunchback. The payload is a high value target of utmost important. Retrieval of the package is a high priority. The order came from way up the chain of command and only a few officer knew of this incursion. The checkpoint was prepped and the operators were personally handpicked by the Boss himself. The tachyon radio hissed to life. "Checkpoint Alpha, what's your sitrep?" The radio chatter was clear as day with the inquiry. The operator shifted on his hidden implacement and quickly snatched the tiny radio from his velcroed pocket. "This is checkpoint alpha, we are ready for intercept. This is a radio silence channel. Maintain silence until intercept and package has been secured. How copy, over?" "We copy, o...
The chatter was cut with a loud thud just a few meters from the operators position. The object bounced a few meters farther. The steel sphere shattered ejecting it's outer casing into a hundred pieces in all direction like a shotgun. The shrapnel flew in all direction hitting the barrier with so much impact the concrete barrier exploded into tiny fragment on impact. The secondary explosion turned the ground zero into a pale shade of white silver day into a blinding light. The temperature was so intense it bent the metal bars into soft melting candles of red hot glowing globules. The operators face shield was sheared exposing his burned skin as the sharp object tore through the protective helmet. He chutched the radio with his right hand and thumbed the clicker as it tore off. He could see his shoulder and arm a few feet where he lay. His camoflaged covering was scattered was strewen all over the place and he could feel the ground starting to rumble and shake. The dust started to rise and levetate and form swirls as bigger stone debris gravitated in mid-air. The lone operator knew that a dropship is nearby. He crawled to where his alert beacon was a few feet away from where he lay. His vision was starting to dim and tried to reach into his rucksack and activate the device to warn the rest of the team about the situation. He rolled into his back to activate the warning device just in time as a searing light hit him in the chest. The battery of detonation subsided and the dust started to settle down. The ground shook as two dropship hovered and dropped light walker payloads and escorted by a hunchback and Uller scouts.
