"Hey toothy, what are you doing here" asked a small, elf like, boy. His name is Jacob and he just happens to be my brother. "I'm just going to buy a loaf of bread for grandma so if you don't mind please leave me alone” I said rolling my eyes at the sheer rudeness he showed me.
"What if I don't want to leave you alone” he interrupted, while smirking at me in his usual smug smarty pant way.
"I do not appreciate your presence Jacob," I exclaimed, reiterating what I had all ready said, "Now leave and go spoon your eyeballs out,” I said chuckling at the thought of it, knowing Jacob and his goody two shoes friends would probably follow my command just to be, ‘obedient’.
I then walked into Smithans a small convinienece store only found in the most wealthy of towns of America, I collected an exquisitely made, hand woven basket, and began to look for grandmas usual items, cheese, milk, bread and of coarse, her low fat yogurt. At the time I was briefly staying in a small B&B just outside of rosewood, we had only arrived the day before but Rosewood would soon become my home, or to be more precise the Hastings house would be my new home for at least the next few months, possibly years. I was starting a new school, rosewood high school, it was a prestigious private school, except in Rosewood, where there's a millionaire on every street it's basically just the school comp, all the billionaires won't step near it, let alone send their children to Rosewood high but it was good enough for me so that was where I would be going at the start of September.
Oh and before I forget, I am Kathy Hastings, a respectable, 14 year old girl, who has been in the family business all her life. This is not a diary, nor a journal but as I have so much time on my hand now I have decided to write a report, on my first term, with the Hastings. Jacob as I have already mentioned is my brother and has always called me toothy, which may or may not be because of the teacher I bit on my first day at school but anyway since then I started calling him noses due to both me breaking his nose and because he is always asking what I am doing and being generally nosy. He is perfect, and so annoying he has perfect grades, perfect hair, perfect skin, and perfect teeth, actually maybe not perfect teeth since i knocked 8 of his out when i was 6. (whoops) I am ok and I get a* but I don't get 110%, I get 99% and that is never good enough for my parents. My parents are constantly on 'business trips' and since the incident there is no way I can go back to any schools in Europe so there is only my grandma except my grandma is getting to old to look after me, so now I am going to be staying with my cousins spencer, and Melissa.
Spencer was the same age as me but we weren't close and we hadn’t even met let alone known about each other until the day previous to me arriving in America . One of the many other reasons I had to move was because, apparently I needed more structure and a family that can give me more attention. I had previously lived in England but I had to come over to America so I that I could, according to my grandma, learn to behave, because my grandma said that if I lived in a Hastings house I would become the perfect child. It's not that I was stupid, I had really good grades, I would just get bored and once I have a scheme I just can't stop myself and before you know it I am sent to the principals office.
Later that day me, my brother and my grandma were all picked up by Mr Hasting's driver in his flashy black car, we were then driven to the Hastings house to meet my new family. Once at the house the Hastings family and my grandma exchanged pleasantries before saying good bye to me as the pair had to leave so they could catch a plane that same night. I waved as the car disappeared into the distance and that that point I knew that my life would be completely different. A warm tear trickled down my cheek and I wiped it away, just as I had simply been wiped away from my grandma and brothers life. It wasn't fair, Jacob was going back to his posh boarding school in London while grandma was off for a fortnight in the sun before officially retiring in Sri Lanka, yet I was just given away as charity, as if i was just some old doll, thats all they treated me like, a doll. The only good thing about this entire ordeal was that I was escaping them and the horrors of my life before.
