To My Ex's New Love

To my ex's new love,

I won't lie and say I'm not jealous simply because he was the best love I ever had. I'm not going to say that everything is fine and I'm accepting of you two dating because deep down, it hurts immensely to know that the lips that press against his are no longer mine.

I won't lie and say I don't still love him because I think we both can agree he is very loveable. I'm not going to say he rarely crosses my mind anymore because deep down, he hasn't left since day one.

I won't lie and say I didn't shed tears while writing this. I'm not going to claim that I am okay without him, because deep down, I recognize that I am not. I know I am broken and I only have myself to blame, not him.

However, I also refuse to lie and say I will never support him again. If he needs me, I'll be there every step of the way. Just so you know, I'm not going to treat either of you poorly, nor try to break you up because I see the way he looks at you. I recognize the look. It's how he once looked at me. Don't take that for granted as I once did. Instead of anger and pure jealousy, I simply write to offer you advice.

Cuddle him often. He likes to be little spoon sometimes. Play with his hair while you watch Netflix together. Kiss him passionately and always give him hugs around the neck. Those are his favorite kind. When he gets stressed, make sure he eats enough; sometimes he forgets while frazzled. Don't talk about his family; that's a sore spot for him. Don't let him fall behind on homework; sometimes he needs a little extra encouragement. Go for runs with him. He loves to run and play outside and occasionally be a kid again. Do all the things I couldn't do to make his smile a little wider each day.

Know that he will be loyal to you and only you. You will feel like the only girl in the world as long as you stay his. He will offer himself to you in the most extraordinary of ways and do the most precious things to reassure you of his love. Every time you look at him, you will not be able to help getting lost in his eyes because there is a vast world to explore in each one of them. He's not like the others...

And when he opens up to you and tells you everything that makes him scared about life, kiss him softly and wipe away the tears because I remember every detail. He deserves that affection. Treat him right.

Don't hurt him like I did and he will always stay yours.

Don't let him fall apart in front of you as you stand there feeling nothing.

Don't stop loving him, even for one second or he'll be gone.
