"Hey, don't cry. Whether you like it or not, I'm always here for you. Even if you don't know it."

Jin

Water tapping and knocking on the window, he looked up from his lit-up screen to see the wet racing down the sill on the other side. The night sky was as still as the sad atmosphere inside, and from far away, clouds covered the natural light partially. Nothing at all will happen if I continue to do this, lazing around with a daylight screen.

He put his phone away into his pocket, sitting up and thinking of things to do days before a special event comes.

And finally, he stood up from his bed, knowing not even the night will suffice unless he'd move his body.

He walked to the silent and dark kitchen connected to the living room, dimly lit up only by the windows of the shelter, and took a small snack from the table, crumbs hitting the floor in a blink of an eye before heading out.

He grabbed his umbrella from the rack on the corner of the wall, wrapped a dark-grey coat in case anything happened and walked out with his keys and wallet in hand, dangling together like jewels, locking the door before walking out to a market close by.

Walking out on the sidewalk with his umbrella open to anywhere wasn't as fun as it used to be, but he definitely couldn't point out the difference from before.

From before.

He didn't know.. what his 'before' was.

His past...

An eerie topic, he doesn't remember his 'before's. What is his past? No, he doesn't remember anything. He would only know about his parents' and brother's death, as some people have told him. And of course, he knew the moments with his family. But he doesn't remember the thing in-between that, that made his mind go crazy and swirling.

He dodged and put the thought back, buried in his head and thought of the sound of rain hitting the pavement and umbrella, going 'teokk teokk teokk' wherever it came in contact with, or his shoes coming in contact with wet but solid cement on each step, or even some other things he's supposed to do at work. College. Home. Anywhere.. until he came across a crying kitten right beside a lamp post, without any food or shelter being provided with but a mere box.

Why would you leave it to die in the showering cold? He thought, as he kneeled down and gave up his umbrella for the poor kitten. I knew I'd need this coat.

He ran to the market, his coat's collar high up on his head as he tried covering himself from the harmless but spiking cold rain.

Jin walked in the market, feeling the air conditioner right above and giving him shivers, his shoes making wet marks on the cardboard placed on the ground for customers to dry their shoes on before stepping on the tiled floor.

He roamed around for anything that he could've wanted or needed, going to this aisle, checking every shelf and going for the next, collecting what he could afford, and dropped all them down in the shopping cart (including canned tuna for the kitten near the lamp post).

He came across clothes and rags, and decided to buy two small-sized fuzzy clothes to cover the kitten up and warm it, really did he pity animals that suffer through everything.
