I went through my classes as usual throughout the rest of the day. Although, I didn't really pay attention to any of them. I was either reading, scrolling through instagram on my phone, or... sketching the outline of Keiran. Don't get me wrong, i'm not like in love with him or anything. I just appreciate the nice curve of his jaw..and everything else. Frankly, I will admit he is extremely gorgeous. So I went on sketching after school, leaning on the huge oak tree in the courtyard in front of the school's entrance. I felt a tap on my shoulder, seeing Lana and her boyfriend Oakley. Apparently Oakley was named after the tree I'm leaning on becuase he was conceived right there....I try not to think about it when I'm near it.
"Whatcha sketching there, Mir?" Oakley leaned over my shoulder and I quickly slapped the cover shut.
"Nothing. I mean, uhm...the park across the street." I try to lie, but I know Lana is picking up on it.
"Riiiggghhhttt.."
Lana swiftly reaches over my shoulder, snatching the notebook from my hands and flips through it.
"See I told you!" Shes shows it to Oakley, and a grin flashes over his face, "8 portraits of Keiran? Someones gottaaa crusshhhhh!"
Lana and Oakley poke my sides, and I end up laughing out "No! I do not!" when I meant it to be serious.
Once I pull out of their grasp and pull my book from them both, I run my hands down my dress to smooth it out.
"Its, Its for a class."
I sling my bag over my shoulder as Oakley comments, "What, Sex Ed?"
I roll my eyes at him and ask Lana, "So you catching a ride with Oakley or me?"
She nods at Oakley "Monday is our date night. Always makes Mondays better." Lana flashes a smile at me as Oakley sweeps her off her feet--literally--and carries her to his truck.
Since they started dating, they have been the cutest couple in the school. and I envy them. I mean seriously, you can see his eternal love for her in his eyes. It's kind of cliche, but I've always wanted that. Silently, I hoped for it. But to everyone that comes near me besides Lana and Oakley, I'm cold-hearted to. I guess when you dont want your heart to be broken, you pretend you don't have one at all.
But i'm finding it hard to do with Keiran. He pulls a smile out of me, somehow.
I trot over to my Impala, and slide into the drivers seat. I toss my bag into the backseat when I hear, "Hey, watch it!"
Keiran pops out of the back and leans over my seat to show a frown. "So, you like to abuse me now? psshht, spilling coffee on me and now smacking me with your 30lb bag? I should call CPS or something."
"What the hell are you doing in my car?!"
I glare at him as he replies, "Well, I thought I could come over early! and I like surprises, especially surprising other people, soooo"
Keiran climbs over the middle console and plops himself in the passengers seat. He puts his hands on the back of his head and leans back. "so, where we heading?'
I grunt loudly, "Put on your seatbelt."
He slides it on and clicks it in, winking at me.
"Is there something in your eye?"
"Fiesty one, are we?"
"Haven't we already established that?"
"True, true."
I shift my car into gear and drive silently to my huge white house with pale blue shutters and garages. I park next to the pillars to the front door, pulling the key from the ignition. Keiran chuckles and I question, "why are you laughing?"
"I live across the street from you, princess."
I mentally facepalm myself. This couldn't get any better. -note my sarcasticness--
I catch my bag as he reaches back and slings it over to me. We both walk up the steps, and I stop right before the door.
"Okay, get upstairs at all costs. Avoid parents and siblings. Got it?"
Keiran salutes me jokingly, and I open the door swiftly. Automatically, My mother is standing by the stairs ready to scold me, but quickly changes her emotion to surprised.
I hear my father from the family room, "Well this is a first." as he peaks around the corner.
"Well, who is this?" My mother Lliann looks him up and down, crossing her arms.
"Mom, Keiran. Keiran, mom." I grab him by his elbow and rush him upstairs, as my mother calls behind us, "leave your door open, missy!"
When we finally reach my bedroom, I push him in and slam the door behind us.
"Parents and siblings averted, M'am!" He salutes my once again, and I softly giggle. "and dang, you must have a problem with authority, shutting your door and all..."
He takes a look around my room, a smile creeping onto his face. He lies down on my bed, his hands behind his head. He looks up and his eyes widen.
"All of these...yours?"
I nod and sit next to his torso, watching him. He gazes at my ceiling covered in my poems, songs, sketches, and photos. He points to a photo on the far left, one of me in a feild of sunflowers, laughing, with my hair in the wind. "I like that one."
I blush slightly, nodding again, not having enough strength to speak. Keirans hand brushes a stray hair from my face, tucking it behind my ear. "I like everything about you, and I've only just met you."
I look down and blush a deeper red. He lifts my chin up and strokes my cheek. Slowly he leans in, but before he can touch his lips to mine, I push at his chest.
"What the fuck are you doing? I seriously hope you aren't trying to kiss me. If so, I will beat your ass. I knew that you were a player, I just hoped you wouldn't try to pull that shit on me. So, just to point it out, I hate games and I sure as hell am not playing them with you. So can you please sit up so we can do our project? I don't want you here any longer than needed."
He slowly sits up on his elbows and raises his eyebrow.
I glower at him, "What? Haven't been rejected before?"
Kerian makes a look of defeat, and slides off the bed to pull out a notebook and a pen out of his leather backpack with band logos stitched all over.
"Well lets get started, then?"
