"The home should be the treasure chest of living." - Le Corbusier
I call my dad after school.
"Hey Renee."
"Hi Daddy," I reply.
"What time will you get home," he asked.
"Ummm . . . 4:55. . .about?"
"Ok. Just hurry up. Everyone is home. I need to tell you all something important."
I gulped a bit. "Ok."
He hung up. Ok let me tell you a little bit about dads . . . surprises. They are usually, A, awesome little trinkets or, B, it's kind of . . . not up to your expectations. Basically, they're not great. But if this is a surprise for the whole family . . . maybe it will be great? I don't know. I think about this the whole way home. At least I'm not thinking about. . . Joel. Wait.
What if Joel is the new Casanova? Oh God . . . No. . . . No. . . . I shake my head of the nonsense. Nope, don't trick yourself Renee. He is NOT the new Casanova. I've learned from my mistakes. It's not going to happen ever again. I'll make sure of it.
I finally arrive at home. I find myself almost rushing home.
"Yaaay! Renee's home!"
"We can finally learn the secret!!!"
My 3 sisters greeted me at the door.
"Don't touch me please . . . what's the secret," I ask.
After I put my bags down and grabbed some skittles, I sat down in the living room with the rest of my family.
My 3 sisters, Galilea, Nellie, and Emora. My mom, dad, and two aunts.
"Well," my dad began. "I'm sure you want to know the surprise. Tri already knows," he said gesturing at my mom.
"TELL US," we all screamed.
"Ok. . ." he said looking at Mom. I was at the edge of my seat. Ha, if he said something like, "It's Thursday!!!" Ugh, I'd die.
"WE'RE MOVING!!!!!!!!"
"WHAT?!" We all had surprised faces. "WHERE?"
He pulled out his phone. "To this house." By the looks of the house, I'm going to be living the sweet life.
"How is this even possible," I ask.
He pointed up to the ceiling symbolizing God.
I smiled real big. We were all jumping up and down and screaming. Is this the best day ever or what?
We drive to the house. It takes about 25 minutes but it felt like an eternity. We were so excited. Heck, I was so excited. We started giggling when we heard, "Your destination is on your left."
We dive up to this really nice two story house.
"It looks a little boring from the outside but when you look inside . . . Whew!" My dad led us to the front door.
He opened the door. My eyes widen. Whoa . . . the floor is made out of mahogany wood. Dude. . . The kitchen floor is made out of red granite. My shook my head in disbelief.
"Are we really living here?"
"Of course, this is your new house and we are your home."
I smiled at his comment.
