I walked into the huge castle. I was in awe from all the gold. It had a gold ceiling, red and gold walls, and the chandeliers shown a golden light. I followed the man down the corridors along with the 5 other people. We walked up to a door that was decorated with triangles and blue flames. The man opened the door and i was met with a lot of cubicles and beds.

"Young men this is your room. Please change into the clothes prepared for you." He said. Me and one other guy walked in. He was on the chubby side and wore a casual shirt and pants. I walked over to one of the beds and picked up the outfit. It was a brown vest over a white button up shirt and brown trousers. I quickly slipped it on and folded my other clothes. I looked over to the other man who awkwardly sat in his new outfit on his bed.

"So what's your name?" I asked trying to make the awkward silence stop.

"My name is Soose. And yours?" He said.

"Mason , but you can call me Dipper." I said as I sat on my bed.

I saw him snicker a bit. "I'm sorry man but why 'Dipper'?" He asked. I sighed and lifted up my hair to reveal the big dipper birthmark on my forehead. He stared in  surprise.  "That's cool dude! You're like unique." He said.

"You're one of the only people who think that." I said as I looked at my feet. "Why are you here anyway? I mean from what I hear this place is horrible."

"I'm really poor and my most of my family died when I was young. My grandma is the only thing I have left and I want the rest of her days to be peaceful and comfortable." He said staring off into space. "What about you dude."

"Well my grandfathers brother had grown very sick and I need a big amount of money to pay for the medicine." I said. "My parents died when me and my sister were around ten due to the flu. My grandfather and his brother raised us. I can't loose them." I was at the verge of tears. I quickly caught myself and threw on a smile. "But once I get enough money I'll get his medication." I saw the concern in his eyes but we dropped the subject and talked a while longer he was really interesting and made me laugh.

A while later I heard the door open and the man came back. "Young gentlemen, today I will show you your first tasks." He said walking out the door. I followed him threw the corridors and down some stairs. We spent our day washing the kitchen and talking, really it was all we could do. I suddenly heard a loud crash and turned around to see one of the cooks had dropped something.

"Sir are you all right I asked." He looked at me and smiled.

"It's all right old chap me and my clumsy self here had just dropped me soup while walking to the waste bin." He said. I helped him up.

"Why were you going to throw it out?" I asked curiously.

"Oh well it was missing something so I decided to start over." He said. I looked at the pot to and gave the man a look that said 'May I' he nodded and I got some of the spilled soup in my finger. It tasted a little to sweet.

"It could use a dash of salt an some garlic." I said as I walked away to grab a mop.

"And how do you know." He said crossing his arms.

"Well having a picky sister and being poor makes you a good cook. I can make three month old road kill taste like steak." I said. The man seemed pretty impressed.

"Well I'll take your advice he said." He said. I mopped up the floor and walked back to Soose

'this place might not be that bad'
