Well this place is BIG. I go to my first period which is band. The class was fun we were just socializing. Not only that but I thought anyone who wasn't a freshman was going to pick on us but everyone was friendly. The period is over, then football comes up. At this point I lost interest in it.
The coaches seemed a bit too aggressive. The thing was that I wasn't having fun anymore. Not only that but I got nervous when the time comes. Everyone seemed to have been counting on you and it put a lot of stress and if you mess up even for a second you're going to get chewed out and you'll be punished.
On the flip side of band everyone is patient. If you messed up you weren't going to get punished.
I could see how football is more aggressive but what was the point of doing this if you're not enjoying it.
In the end I decided that football wasn't for me. I wasn't happy, I would get criticized and humiliated a lot. This seemed to pay off as well because I didn't have anxiety over band and I had a lot of fun. I was even a quick learner. I went from the ok cymbal player to the best. (Also cymbals are one of the easiest instruments) to even a good snare player.(which is way more challenging than the cymbals)Even the Section leader said I was a quick learner. He even said "You have a lot of potential Paz. Which is why I'm going to train you to be the next section leader. I knew when you walked in those doors in band camp you were going to be the next section leader. I even told the drum major."
