"Yes, this is Robbie Albert." he said into the mouthpiece.
"Well Good evening Mr.Albert! How can I help you? You will be able to make it to your skydiving adventure, won't you?" said the voice on the other side.
"Of course! I just wanted to make sure if it was for tomorrow."
"The 12th wasn't it? Yes! It's for tomorrow! Will you be needing directions?"
"No, thank you. What time should I be there?"
"Oh 8:00 am should be fine! Will that suit you?"
"Yes, perfectly. Oh and I will also be bringing a girl with me, so will it be possible to make the payment for her as well, tomorrow?" he said and Janis began squealing and wringing her hands in front of her.
Robbie looked at her sternly and she sank back quietly, yet the excitement didn't leave her eyes.
"Of course Mr. Albert! As I told you before, we're quite free at this time of the year. We'll definitely be able to save a spot for the young lady." said the woman and Robbie nodded smiling.
"Thank you! We shall see you tomorrow then!" said Robbie.
"Buh-bye! Have a nice day!"
"And you too."
The line went dead.

Robbie turned to look at Janis who gave an excited whoop and ran over to give him a quick hug.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Albert!" she said and Robbie smiled. But he felt there was something strange about what she said. He put it at the back of his head and sent Janis to her motel room for a good night's sleep.

Switching off his bedside lamp, he lay down and pulled the covers over himself. Then it hit him. This was the first time she had called him Mr. Albert.

                                ***

Robbie woke to a thunderous knocking on his door. He sat up immediately and ran to the door thinking 'earthquake!'

He yanked open his door to find Janis standing there, completely ready to leave.

"It's TI-IME!!!" she sang chirpily and Robbie let out a infuriated yet relieved sigh.
"Janis!" he chided and she giggled.
"Sorry, I was too excited. I'm gonna jump from the sky after all!!" she yelled and Robbie shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"Go ahead for breakfast." he said to the madly excited girl. "I'll join you in a while."
"Yes, Sir!"
She saluted and marched down the corridor.
Robbie shook his head again.
This time, laughing.

They walked out of the motel and headed to the Toyota, now covered in a fine layer of dust. Seeing it, made Robbie smile. Finally she was getting to drive to worthwhile places. They sat in the car and Robbie waved at Lucy's picture. Watching him, Janis waved too. Watching Janis, Robbie felt his heart grow warm.
Watching them both, Lucy definitely would have smiled.

They pulled out of the parking lot and hit the open road.

There they were, the wind in their hair, the sun making their eyes sparkle and the radio playing their favourite songs went suddenly,

"Rrrrrrrrr." Groaned the car.
"Huh?" Janis questioned.
"Oh boy. Not now." Robbie muttered as the car pulled itself to a stop.
"What's wrong?!" Janis cried, panic evident in her voice.
"No fuel."
"What?!"
"Yep."
"What're we going to do now?!"
"Calm down, Janis. There's a gas station a few hundred metres down the road." Robbie turned to satiate the girl.
"Few hundred? How few?"
"About 4 or 5."
Janis groaned.
"C'mon we'll just have to push her there."
"Oh man..." she groaned again and laid her head against the seat.
"We might miss skydivi-" before he could even finish his sentence, Janis jumped out and began to roll up her sleeves.
Robbie chuckled as he went to the driver side window.
"On three!" he yelled and Janis nodded from the back of the car.
"One! Two! THREE!"
Janis began pushing the car and Robbie pushed it with one hand on the steering wheel.
"Hep! Hep! Hep!" yelled Janis as she pushed the Toyota forward.
"Excuse me?" said a voice and they stopped immediately, looking up to see two boys (as Robbie saw them) / hot young guys (as Janis saw them).
"Yes?" Robbie asked.
"We came to see if you needed some help." said one of the two, smiling.
"Oh, we'd really appreciate it!" Janis gushed before Robbie got a chance to open his mouth.
"Oh, I'm Ashton by the way. And this is Ryan." said the shorter one and extended his hand towards Robbie, while the taller (and according to Janis, cuter one) shook her hand.
"I'm Janis." she said, smiling uncontrollably.
"Robbie. Albert." said Robbie.
The newcomers rolled up their sleeves and stood on both sides on Janis, ready to push the car.
"And PUSH!" yelled Robbie from near the wheel and the three youngsters pushed with all strength they could muster.

The progress was much faster with their help and they reached the gas station much quicker than they expected. They slumped down beside the car, their chests rising and falling rapidly.

"C'mon we'll treat you to soda or something for your help." said Robbie and Janis seconded his request.
"Oh no, that's alright. Plus, we should be going now." said Ryan but the old duo persuaded the new duo to accompany them to the fast food place that was right at the gas station.

"Coke?" Robbie asked the three kids around him and they nodded, smiling gratefully.
"Four cokes it is then!" he told the waiter who nodded and went to get their drinks.
"So, what are you guys doing around here?" asked Janis, breaking the awkward silence.
"We're actually heading up to the university. This is our first year so we thought it would be better if we visited the place before joining." said Ryan and Janis nodded thoughtfully, her eyebrows raised.
"Here you go, folks. Four Cokes." said the waiter as he placed four humongous glasses of the fizzy liquid in front of them. That saved them from further conversation as they gulped down the cokes thankfully, beads of perspiration running down both, the glasses and their necks.
