Chapter Two

(Present)

RIGHT NOW, I WAS STILL ABOARD the plane that is heading to the great state of Virginia. The sate where I would hopefully be reunited with Bobby. Or Robert. Or John. Ah, well. Let's just say Bobby. I remember the first time I called him that...

Me: Robert, huh? Can I call you Bobby for short?

Bobby: Why would you do that?

Me: Because we're friends. Aren't we?

Bobby: Sure.

Me: Alright then. Bobby it is.

He was so weirded out by it, but went along with it anyway.

"Excuse me, dear." I heard someone say. I looked up to see the middle aged flight attendant looking expectantly at me.

"Yes?" I asked, putting on a fake smile. I had no desire to smile. None at all. Especially with what I was soon to do. Butterflies invaded my stomach.

"Would you like anything? You've been sitting here for the past three hours, and haven't gotten up once." She replied.

"Oh, no thank you. I'm perfectly fine." I told her. "Just waiting for the flight to be over is all. Thanks anyway."

"No problem. Call if you need anything, hun." She replied, heading her way to assist other passengers. I thanked her once more, and turned back resting into my seat.

It was going to be about another hour and a half before we landed in Virginia. I still had no idea what I was going to do once I got there. Well, of course I was going to go to my hotel room, but I didn't know what to do afterwards.

"Your first time flying?" The man sitting next to me asked.

"Oh, no." I replied. He was very handsome, and at least in his early thirties. At the beginning of the flight, I'd he was wearing a wedding band. I noticed that he wasn't now.  "It is my first time heading to Virginia, though."

"I knew you weren't from here from the moment I seen you." He said.

"Oh, really. How?" I asked.

"You just seem very... different." He replied, looking as if he couldn't really find the right word, but was satisfied with the one he'd used.

"Different..." I repeated. "Is that good, or bad?"

"It depends on you, I guess. It certainly doesn't appear as bad in my dictionary." He replied, giving me a cheesy grin. I just about bet that it didn't. Cheating perv. Even though he was beyond disgust, I always maintained nice manners with people. No matter what.

"I guess you're right." I replied. "So, are you from Virginia?"

"Yep. Born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia." He replied.

"Oh, how cool. Were you in California for business or something?" I'd asked.

"As a matter of a fact, I was." He replied. "I'm a business owner. I own ten eateries so far stationed all over in the U.S."

"Wow, that's so cool." I told him. I was honestly surprised. "So what brings you back to your home town?"

"Uh, checking in on business, you know." He replied. I could tell he was lying by the way he was moving around and fidgeting. My criminal justice class taught us how to read people. I loved that class very much.

"Sounds like fun. I bet you're glad to be going back home." I told him, and he only nodded. "So, do you have any family out there also?"

"Besides my brother, not really." He lied. I was just about tired of it. It was time to wrap this up.

"Oh, I thought that you did since I seen you with a wedding band on a couple of hours ago." I retorted. Now he really got scared. "What happened to it?"

"Sorry. I actually have to go to the bathroom. Please, do excuse me." He replied, hurrying out of the seat, and into the airplane bathroom. I just chuckled.

I decided to plug in my earphones and listen to music the rest of the way on the flight. Maybe even take a little nap to rest up. Yep. As I began yawning, I knew that I would fall asleep soon. I made myself more comfy, and rested my eyes...falling into a fitful sleep...

"Miss? Miss?" I slowly opened my eyes. Everything was blurry. Tended to happen when I wore my contacts whilst asleep. I always forget. My focus lingered back to the middle aged attendant lady I spoke to earlier.

"Wha-?" I mumbled.

"We'll be landing in a few minutes. I just wanted to wake you before hand." She said.

"Oh, thank you so much." I thanked her. She was incredibly kind.

"You're welcome." She replied, smiling, and walked away.

In a few minutes, we would be landing. I'd be heading out of the airport, gathering my luggage, hailing a cab, and making my way to my hotel room, Bradshaw, West Virginia. Well, here I go.
